Jones, Bishop Ellis – age 91, of Chillicothe OH, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Ft. Sanders Regional. He was the founder of Holy Highway Church of God, in Cincinnati, OH and Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by loving wife of 50 years Josie L. Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and caregiver, Patricia (Arthur) Spencer; sons, Ellis L. (Pamela) Jones and Steven (Stephanie) Jones; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eleanora White, Oakland, CA; a host of nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends to include close friends Elder Nell and Mother Middlebrook. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Bishop Dr. Allan Butler officiating. Interment will be Friday, July 1, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery, at 5901 Lyons View Pike. The service will conclude with full military honors and a full dove release.

Sunday, June 26th, 2011(Adrianne_Watson_program) Watson, Adrianne Celeste– born December 4, 1975 to the union of William Earl and Bernice Smith Watson. Answering the call of her Lord and Savior, she peacefully entered into His kingdom joining other heavenly angels this past Sunday morning, June 26, 2011. After a lingering four month battle dealing with complications from a very serious injury, God saw she was tired and granted her eternal rest. Adrianne, known for her beautiful smile and outgoing personality, was adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and will be sorely missed. Preceded in death by her father and grandmothers, Frances Watson and Virginia Sanders. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: DaSheena, DeAngelo and Delece Watson; one grandson, DaShaun Watson; a very loving and caring mother, Bernice Watson of Knoxville; sister, Shawntell (Raymond) Stewart of Stone Mountain, GA; aunts, Ruby Hall and Kathy Watson; uncles: Ernest Watson, Norman (Margie) Smith, both of Knoxville, John Watson of Lorsh, Germany and Fred (Loretta) Watson of Jacksonville, FL; one great aunt, Lillian Mitchell of Knoxville and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of UT Medial Center of Knoxville and Kindred Nursing Home of Chattanooga for all their dedication and care shown to Adrianne during her stay at these facilities. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Cannon, Sr.; parents, Edward (Maggie) Kemp; grandson, Timothy Cannon, Jr.; three sisters and four brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Lois (Michael) Brown; four sons: Robert (Selena) Cannon, Jr. of Dayton, OH, Arthur (Aly), Daniel (Patrice) and Timothy Cannon, Sr., all of Atlanta, GA; three sisters: Jacqueline Barton, Lois Keith and Geneva Ware; one brother, Melvin R. Kemp, Sr.; twelve grandchildren to include two devoted grandchildren, Keosha Anderson and Edward Cannon; fourteen great grandchildren; many cousins and friends to include special friends: Earnestine McDowell, Annette Aryen , Marion Williams, Gail D. Smith and Margaret Drake. The family is at 3700 Selma Avenue. Monday, June 20th, 2011(Mattie_Mills_program) Mills, Mattie J.-born May 27, 1959 and departed this life on June 20, 2011. She was the youngest child born to Nannie Mills-Moore and the late Walter Mills. Mattie attended Knoxville City Schools and was a proud graduate of the Austin East Class of 1977. She is preceded in death by her only child, Shannon LaTroy Mills; father, Walter Mills; brothers, Gary Mills, Theonda and Travis Williams; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Nichols and Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Spiva.
Left to cherish her memory are devoted and loving mother, Nannie Mills-Moore; sisters, Teresa (Michael) Thompson and Glenda Johnson; brothers, Frank (Sabrina) and John (Amy) Williams Jr. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends too numerous to name. Saturday, June 18th, 2011(Booker_Allen_program) Allen, Booker Talifero– affectionately known as “Deacon”, peacefully left this life on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Booker served in the United States Navy during World War II (1943-1949). Until his brief illness, Deacon Allen was a faithful member of Greater First Church of God in Christ. Booker is preceded in death by his parents, Elder Charles and Emma Fain Allen; first wife, Lula Belle Allen; siblings: Charles Allen, Emma Pauline Parnell and Rosemary Allen; and son, Donnell Bazzell. Booker is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Carol Grant Allen; son, Henry Carter; step-daughter, Christina Grant; brother, William Allen; devoted niece, Roxanne Asbury and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Due to renovations on the sanctuary at Greater first COGIC, the family will receive friends at Children of God Ministries Church of God in Christ at 309 Deaderick Street on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. A homegoing celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Donald Lee Derrickson officiating. Friday, June 17th, 2011(Denise_Harvey_program) Harvey, Dr. Denise Marie, departed this life on Friday, June 17, 2011 at UT Medical Center. She was born on July 22, 1954 to Dr. Robert H. and Edwina P. Harvey in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Harvey was beloved by her family, students, a host of relatives and friends. Some of her acquaintances commended her to be their “very best friend.” As a junior at Holston High School in Knoxville, she was an exchange student in the Netherlands; she spent a semester as an undergraduate student at the University of Denmark, Copenhagen. She received a B.A. from Vanderbilt-Peabody, a Masters of Arts from Tulane University, a Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. She taught at Lincoln Memorial University and at UT where she served on the Chancellor’s staff. She was active in many organizations serving on several boards including the United Way. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Edwina Harvey; sister, Sharon (Earl) Carswell of Florida; brother, Brian (Ann) Harvey of Virginia; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and many other relatives. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 12 noon until 1:00 PM with service to follow at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 4904 Asheville Highway. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be given to the Robert Harvey Scholarship Fund, Knoxville College or the American Cancer Society. Barry Leonardo Richardson
Thursday, June 16th, 2011(Barry_Richardson_program) Richardson, Barry Leonardo was born November 6, 1953, in Knoxville, TN, to the late Magdalene Scaggs Angel and Aaron Richardson. He departed this life on Thursday, June 16, 2011.
He accepted Christ at an early age under the guidance and stewardship of his grandfather, Reverend Edward Scaggs.
He graduated from Austin-East High School in 1971. He was drafted out of high school to play professional baseball for the Houston Astros. He attended Columbia State Community College, where he received a scholarship to play baseball. He transferred to East Tennessee State University, where he received a BS in Transportation in 1975. Barry was an accomplished artist, having designed the official Austin-East Roadrunner symbol, and he was also an accomplished and avid golfer.
Barry was a dedicated and faithful employee of State Farm Insurances Companies for 31 years, serving in leadership capacities for 23 years in Knoxville and Murfreesboro Tennessee.
Barry was preceded in death by: mother, Magdalene Scaggs (Frank) Angel; father, Aaron D. Richardson; grandparents, Reverend Edward and Charlotte (Lottie Minor) Scaggs; nephew, Justin Leath. Left to cherish his memory: loving wife, Cheryl; son, Eric; daughter, Bianca; brother, Rev. Shawn (Sylvia) Angel; sister, Ingrid (Carlos) Erving; uncle and aunt but special godparents rearing Barry after the death of his mother, Jervis and Rosetta Leath; aunt, Sharon (Jesse) Farmer; father-and mother-in-law, Oscar and Dorothy Henderson; special cousins, Reginald (Valerie) Leath, Jervece Steele, Xavier (Aixa) Leath, and Tegwyn (Paul) Berry; brothers-in-law, Rev. Anthony (Annette) Henderson and Jeffrey Henderson. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Dykes, III.
