(Booker_Allen_program) Allen, Booker Talifero– affectionately known as “Deacon”, peacefully left this life on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Booker served in the United States Navy during World War II (1943-1949). Until his brief illness, Deacon Allen was a faithful member of Greater First Church of God in Christ. Booker is preceded in death by his parents, Elder Charles and Emma Fain Allen; first wife, Lula Belle Allen; siblings: Charles Allen, Emma Pauline Parnell and Rosemary Allen; and son, Donnell Bazzell. Booker is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Carol Grant Allen; son, Henry Carter; step-daughter, Christina Grant; brother, William Allen; devoted niece, Roxanne Asbury and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Due to renovations on the sanctuary at Greater first COGIC, the family will receive friends at Children of God Ministries Church of God in Christ at 309 Deaderick Street on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. A homegoing celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Donald Lee Derrickson officiating. Interment will be Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike. Service will conclude with full military honors and a full dove release.
