(Mattie_Mills_program) Mills, Mattie J.-born May 27, 1959 and departed this life on June 20, 2011. She was the youngest child born to Nannie Mills-Moore and the late Walter Mills. Mattie attended Knoxville City Schools and was a proud graduate of the Austin East Class of 1977. She is preceded in death by her only child, Shannon LaTroy Mills; father, Walter Mills; brothers, Gary Mills, Theonda and Travis Williams; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Nichols and Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Spiva.
Left to cherish her memory are devoted and loving mother, Nannie Mills-Moore; sisters, Teresa (Michael) Thompson and Glenda Johnson; brothers, Frank (Sabrina) and John (Amy) Williams Jr. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends too numerous to name. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff & doctors of St. Mary’s CCU & CPU Units for all their support. On Thursday, June 23, 2011, the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Reverend John B. Jordan and Reverend Horace Rogers Mills officiating. Interment will take place at Jefferson Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral. The service will conclude with a full dove release. The family is requesting friends to assemble at 1921 Natchez Avenue.
