(Denise_Harvey_program) Harvey, Dr. Denise Marie, departed this life on Friday, June 17, 2011 at UT Medical Center. She was born on July 22, 1954 to Dr. Robert H. and Edwina P. Harvey in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Harvey was beloved by her family, students, a host of relatives and friends. Some of her acquaintances commended her to be their “very best friend.” As a junior at Holston High School in Knoxville, she was an exchange student in the Netherlands; she spent a semester as an undergraduate student at the University of Denmark, Copenhagen. She received a B.A. from Vanderbilt-Peabody, a Masters of Arts from Tulane University, a Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. She taught at Lincoln Memorial University and at UT where she served on the Chancellor’s staff. She was active in many organizations serving on several boards including the United Way. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Edwina Harvey; sister, Sharon (Earl) Carswell of Florida; brother, Brian (Ann) Harvey of Virginia; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and many other relatives. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 12 noon until 1:00 PM with service to follow at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 4904 Asheville Highway. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be given to the Robert Harvey Scholarship Fund, Knoxville College or the American Cancer Society. Service will conclude with full dove release.
