George Claxton Jackson – departed this life on November 28, 2012 at University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born on July 27, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was employed with Connecticut General Life Insurance Company and the TVA George was preceded in death by his father, James Abraham Jackson, Sr.; brother, James Abraham Jackson, Jr.; son, Gary Edmond Jackson; nephew, Derrek Anthony Jackson; brother-in-law Albert Montgomery, Jr. George leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life, a devoted wife Sandra Jackson; sons Steven Jackson (Tiffany) and Cedric Jackson (Audrey); daughters, KaVonna Davis and LaRosia Carrington (Roger); mother, Ernestine Jackson; sister, Jacquilyn Franklin (Carl); brother, Eugene Jackson (Marion); 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a special circle of friends Special thanks to Palliative Care, Dr. Brewer and the Nursing Staff of 7 South at the University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital. She was a proud graduate of Austin East High class of 1970. Preceded in death by mother, Minnie S. Fullwood Davis, father, Henry Davis, sister, Martha E. Davis, brother, James H. Davis, brother-in-law, Eugene J. Mitchell Jr. survived by three sons; James “Possum” (Tina) Davis Sr., Lavon M. Davis, DeAries (Jessica) George; grandchildren, Zerconia, Daryl, James Jr., KeyAsia Davis; sister, June D. Mitchell; brother, Howard (Renda) Davis and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins. On Thursday, December 6, 2012 the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:00p.m. with funeral service to follow at Foster Chapel Baptist Church 2102 Ault Rd. Rev. Joseph Tolbert, Pastor. She passed to glory November 23, 2012 after a long life’s journey. She was a devoted member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her son, Hayden Lee Chestnutt, parents, Beecher and Lottie Parnell Chestnutt, aunt, Martha Maybell Allen, uncles, Edward, Albert, Herman, Elmer and Ralph Banks, cousins, Rachel and James Drew, Patricia and Charles McKinney and James Taylor, Jr. She leaves to rejoice in her memory and good deeds: daughter, Sheila Chestnutt; son, Eric (Betty) Chestnutt; daughter-in-law, Debra Chestnutt; grandchildren, Ericka and Kamium Fowler; cousins: Pearlie Ethelyne Avant, Sandra Brown, Frankie Atkins, Ronald (Felicia) Banks and Lloyd (Juanita) Fears and many other relatives and friends. Friday, November 16th, 2012White, Bernice Nelson – went to her heavenly home on November 16, 2012. She was a graduate of Austin High School and the proud owner of M& E Restaurant. She was a beautiful and loving mother who cared deeply for her family. She was always willing to lend an ear or more importantly share a few words with anyone. Mrs. White was predeceased by her husband, Elwood “Beefy” White, a grandson, Darius Nelson and her parents. She was born on May 5, 1922 in Fairfield County, SC to her parents, John and Essie Green. She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Mynatt, Sr., stepson, Ernest (Daisy) Mynatt, Jr., parents, brother, John David Green and sisters, Alberta Brown, Annie Cole, Ollie Mae Walls and Marie Green. Tuesday, November 6th, 2012Winton, Larry – born June 16, 1959 to the late Gladys Winton was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Larry was a member of Sentertown Missionary Baptist and retired from Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Preceded in death by his mother and grandparents, Charles (Pauline) Winton.
His life will be forever cherished by: devoted and loving wife, Cynthia “Ann”; two sons, Larry, Jr. and DeMarcus Griffin; three daughters, Shernika Winton, Ebony Griffin and Alexis McGhee; sister, Christine Winton; brothers: Willie (Rosella), Ray (Denise) and Melvin Winton; sisters and brothers-in-law: Harold (Gloria) Bassett, Victor (Joyce), David (Karen), Richard (Marcella) and Tommy Whitehead; aunts, Dorothy James and Frances Wiley; uncle, Charles Winton; nine grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Monday, November 5th, 2012Moore, Tawana Denise – age 50, slept away on November 5, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was a graduate of Austin East High School, Class of 1980 and Pellissippi State Community College, Class of 2005. For over 19 years, Tawana was employed as a Head Start Instructor with Knox County Schools. She attended Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Moore, father, William Foster Clemons, sister, Pamela Bonner, brother, Gregory “McGoo” Jack and grandparents, Horace (Anne) Thompson and Katherine Steel. She is survived by her devoted children: Meticia (Jed) Jackson, GA and Phillip Moore II; granddaughter, Camille Jackson; loving mother, Evelyn (Danny) Coats; sisters: Carmen Clemons, Deanna Keeter and JoAnn Glenn, also caregiver; brothers, William Clemons and Todd Jack; devoted friends: Jacqueline Clarke, VA, Norman Willis and AEHS, Class of 1980; a host of relatives and friends.A special thank you to Thompson Cancer Center and Dr. J.
