Tawana Denise Moore

Moore, Tawana Denise – age 50, slept away on November 5, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was a graduate of Austin East High School, Class of 1980 and Pellissippi State Community College, Class of 2005. For over 19 years, Tawana was employed as a Head Start Instructor with Knox County Schools. She attended Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Moore, father, William Foster Clemons, sister, Pamela Bonner, brother, Gregory “McGoo” Jack and grandparents, Horace (Anne) Thompson and Katherine Steel. She is survived by her devoted children: Meticia (Jed) Jackson, GA and Phillip Moore II; granddaughter, Camille Jackson; loving mother, Evelyn (Danny) Coats; sisters: Carmen Clemons, Deanna Keeter and JoAnn Glenn, also caregiver; brothers, William Clemons and Todd Jack; devoted friends: Jacqueline Clarke, VA, Norman Willis and AEHS, Class of 1980; a host of relatives and friends.A special thank you to Thompson Cancer Center and Dr. J. Clarke, MD. On Saturday, November 10, 2012, the family will receive friends at Overcoming Believers Church, 2500 E. Fifth Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with the funeral to follow. Pastor Daryl Arnold officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland South Memorial Park where a full dove release will conclude the service.

    To Evelyn, Buffy, Todd, Carmen and Chico,
    I pray for the Lord to give you the stregth to make it through this tough time. Tawana was a blessing and she touched so many people with her steadfast faith, her light that was so bright and her beautiful spirit! I loved her and I love you all.

    I am very saddened to hear of her passing she was a wonderful person. She was my daughter’s head start teacher, she always had such a beautiful smile every day and would help you anyway she could. She will always have a special place in my heart.
