Charlene (Williams) Dickerson, a loving wife, sister and aunt, Charlene will always be remembered for her wonderful smile, contagious laughter, lively personality, zest for life, concern and dedication to others, and her love of music and movies. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother and mother-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memories: loving husband, Jeffery Dickerson; brothers, Melvin (Sonia) Williams, Jackie Ellis and Dewayne Ellis; sisters, Jenell Williams, Angela (Robin) Saffell, Tiffany Davis and Deshawn (Anthony) Wright; devoted sis-in-law Dana Young, as well as a multitude of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was loved by her girls, Sharon R., Bonnie P., Janice B., Sherri N., Sharon C. and her two babies Crickett and KoKo. The family will receive friends at Unity Mortuary Chapel on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 4:00 p.m.

Muckle, Pearlie Mae – age 95, of Knoxville, TN. departed this life May 24 2014 in Miami, Fl. She was a caring known figure in the Lonsdale community and a devoted Jehovah Witness. She was preceded in death her husband, John Muckle; daughter, Armour Jean Ponders and son, Louis D. Muckle. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Willie Mae (Albert) Hill, Johnnie Mae Muckle, Mary Anne (Jesse) Rhodes; sister- in – law, Elnora Muckle; devoted son, John (Dorothy) Muckle; grandchildren, Avery Hill, Lisa Webb, Shelia Muckle, Dennis Muckle, Darryl  Muckle, Kevin Muckle, Rhonda Muckle, Gary Ponders, Tangela Ponders, Terica (Taurus) Dunn, Kim Rocker, Mickey Muckle-McBee, Karen (Bruce) Williams, Vanessa Askew and Curtis Askew; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 31, 2014, from 12:00 until 1:00 pm, with services to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Minister George Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will assemble at 1215 Adcock Avenue.

HARVEY, Dr. ROBERT H. – 91, of Knoxville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.  He was born on November 16, 1922 to Reverend and Mrs. John H. Harvey of Lumberton, MS.  Following lengthy battles with tenacious illnesses, Dr. Harvey was surrounded by his family at UT Medical Center as he peacefully entered into his heavenly reward.   A faithful elder of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and a past moderator of the East Tennessee Presbytery, Dr. Harvey is remembered as a stalwart advocate for formal education, military service and community service.   Following his 1940 enrollment in Knoxville College, he enlisted in the US Army, where he served with the 11^th Armored Division of General Patton’s Third Army.  Dr. Harvey’s unit provided transport services as The Red Ball Express.  His ability to speak German aided in his most indelible memory: the May, 1945 retrieval of Holocaust survivors from a Munich-area concentration camp. WW2’s end allowed him to earn his undergraduate degree at Knoxville College, his Master’s at the University of Rochester and his doctorate at Columbia University.   As a Knoxville College math professor, the dean of academics, interim president and Acting President, he enjoyed motivating students to exceed their limitations.  Continuing to champion educational excellence, he also served at the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C. , the US Department of Education, the Louisiana Department of Education, and the Texas Higher Education Commission.  Active in civil life, Dr. Harvey was a volunteer on many boards including the Knoxville Symphony and the Joy of  Music School.  As a member of  the Knoxville Kiwanis Northside, he served as their Kentucky/Tennessee Lieutenant Governor  and since 1973 has been fondly regarded as a volunteer score keeper for his friends from the Cerebral Palsy Center who are bi-weekly bowlers.  Dr. Harvey was quoted as saying ,”These people inspire me.  They are the most appreciative people I’ve been around”. 

He is survived by his bride of almost 70 years, his college sweetheart Edwina P. Harvey, their children Sharon Harvey Carswell with  Earl Carswell, Robert Brian Harvey with Katherine Ann Harvey, Dr. Denise Harvey, who preceded him in death in 2011, grandsons, Jason with Elizabeth Harvey,  and Benjamin Harvey, and great- grand daughters, Julia and Sierra Harvey, sisters, Clementine Benton  of MS, Marian Ferrell of MD, brothers, Calvin Harvey of MD, Charles Harvey of MI , brother in law, Leander Taylor Sr. of  MS, sisters-in-law, Catherleen , Shirley, Armetha, and Carolyn  Harvey, many nieces and nephews, and a host of colleagues and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 2, 2014 from 11 am – 1 pm at Eastminster Presbyterian, 4904 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville  37914, with funeral  services at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 11:30 am, at Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery with full military honors, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville 37920. Services to conclude with full dove release.

Lauderback, Myrtle – was born on November 22, 1916 to the parents of the late Clyde Burchell and Mable Lauderback. On Sunday, May 11, 2014 the Lord called and her spirit answered. She was educated in the Knoxville School System and graduated from Austin High School in the class of 1935. Myrtle was a very loving and devoted daughter. She cared for her father until his death. She will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit. She loved flowers and enjoyed growing and sharing them with her friends. She was of the Baptist faith. She was the oldest of four children and was preceded in death by all her siblings, two brothers and one sister, Wylie, Clyde Jr. and Kathleen. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory: two loving nephews, George Jr. and Arnold Lauderback whom she raised as her own; four devoted nephews and one niece who loved her dearly, and enjoyed spoiling her, Willie (Quintella) Crawford, Hampshire, Va., Willie (Andrian) Crawford, Douglas (Pat Crawford and Jo Ann Hickson all of Knoxville, TN.; many great nephews, nieces and three cousins, Lois LeFlore, Paul and Brenda Lauderback; a very devoted friend, Evette Giles. Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Fair View Center, 16 26 Dora Ave. Knoxville, TN.

Sandra Traylor-Higgins – of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2014 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Hospital. She was a faithful member of Greater Bush Grove Baptist Church. Sandra was a loved Foster Grandparent at L. T. Ross Building. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertus and Della Smith; husband, Willard Higgins and brother, Lorenzo Chambers. She leaves behind love ones: sons, Charles and (S) Traylor, Charlotte, NC: Johnathan Milan, Hamilton, OH; daughter, Della (Lawrence) Reeves; brother,  Eugene Smith, Staten Island, NY; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at Greater Bush Grove Baptist Church, 1455 W. Fourth Ave. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Eugene Carter officiating. Service will conclude with full dove release. Graveside service will be held at Green Hill Cemetery at 1:00pm on Friday, May 23, 2014 in Middlesboro, KY.

Elizabeth “Liz” Cox Kennebrew – peacefully departed this life at her home in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 7, 2014. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Willie and Elizabeth Steward. Liz moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1970 and was employed with Kroger’s for 28 years. After her retirement she enjoyed time with her family. She loved watching good movies and soap operas, reading and playing card games on the computer. She’s preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Elizabeth Cox, her son, Robert C. Cox, brothers, Louis Cox, Walter Cox and Robert Cox; sister, Marion L. Williamson. Thomas, Mary Wrancher – of Knoxville, departed this life on May 4, 2014 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born November 22, 1933 to the late Rev. Robert and Emma Wrancher. She is survived by her children, Rose, Emma, Philadelphia, PA, Patty Thomas, Mary (Gary) Montgomery and Willie and Malcolm Thomas; 4 brothers; 1 sister; 1 sister-in-law and other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon with services to follow at 12:00 Noon at Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Richard S.
