Bragg, Lottie Smith– transitioned from this life Thursday morning, April 28, 2011, at NHC Ft. Sanders. She was born January 17, 1921 in Pacolet Mills (Spartanburg County), South Carolina. She was a member of the 1941 graduating class of Austin High School. She was a faithful member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church until her health declined. She retired as a clerical assistant from Hess’s Department Store (now Dilliards). She leaves to fondly cherish her memory: son, C. Norman (Jacquelyn) Bragg; daughter, Janice Bragg (Eric) Crawford and other relatives and friends. A special thank you is extended to her caregivers at NHC Ft. Sanders, to include Liz Foatman, Lisa Gamble and the 2nd floor staff. The family will receive friends Monday, May 2, 2011 from 11:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, funeral service to follow, Dr. Latisha D. Reeves, officiating. Interment will be at Highland South, Chapman Highway. The service to conclude with a full dove release. Claude Smith and Velma Armstrong Smith. Left to mourn her death: spouse, Willie Hammonds: devoted daughter, Miracle Hammonds; sister, Velma (Tony) Davis; stepmother, Grace Smith; two grandsons, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and cousins; a devoted niece, Tamora Davis and many friends and family. Tuesday, April 26th, 2011Bradley, Bonnie L. “Bonnie Boo”– passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Bonnie Boo, as she was affectionately known by all, was a member or the graduating class of Austin High, Class of 1956. She retired from the Department of Education in Paterson, NJ. and was the Chairperson of the Lifetime Membership in the Missionary Society of the AME Zion Church. Ms. Bradley was the President of the March Club at First AME Zion Church. Those who preceded her in death were parents, Edward (Leanna) Miller, siblings and other relatives. She leaves to cherish her memory: devoted children, Vickie Brown, Patricia Bradley of Smyrna, TN and Walter (Rebecca) Bradley, III of Indianapolis, IN; lifetime companion, Walter Bradley, Jr.; caregiver and devoted granddaughter, Michelle Bradley; other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Thompson; brothers, Marvin (Patricia) and David (Gwen) Miller; specials friends to include Sonya Armstrong, Ella Walker and Alzora Rader; a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to name. Marlon was born on June 28, 1979 in Knoxville, TN to the union of Shelia Williams, NY and Kenneth Gore, NY. Marlon accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Levi (Mildred) Gary and Christopher (Minnie) Williams, cousins, Jarnesha Williams and Belinda Latham. Thursday, April 7th, 2011Chesney, Marie Antoinette (Angie)– age 49 of Knoxville, passed away on April 7, 2011. She is preceded death by her father Louis Chesney, grandmother Katherine Reece, grandfather Samuel Reece and aunt Shirley Tate. Survivors to include a very devoted mother Beatrice Chesney; a loving sister Carolyn Chesney; one brother John Chesney; three devoted nieces: Normitha (Bo) Queener, Charmika (Greg) Elder and LaDawnna (Daniel) Agnew; two nephews Carl and Johnathan Chesney. To cherish her memory, “Angie” leaves behind her little dumplings, three great nephews: Sidney and Asad Salaam and Tyson Chesney and a great niece Jade Marie. Captain Timothy Shaun Anderson
Wednesday, April 6th, 2011Anderson, Captain Timothy Shaun.– born September 28, 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee, returned to his Heavenly Father on April 16, 2011 at Norton Brownsboro hospital in Louisville, Kentucky after a long courageous battle with lymphoma.
He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, son, grandson, brother, Captain, nephew, cousin and friend…affectionately known as Daddy, Tim & T.A.
Captain Anderson received his high school diploma from Holston High School in 1987, his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Saint Leo University and two Master of Art degrees in Human Resources Development and Human Resources Management from Webster University.
Captain Timothy S. Anderson ended his journey actively and proudly serving his country for twenty years in the United States Army. During his service, Captain Anderson strove for excellence leading with strength, wisdom, humility and integrity. As he served, he received various certifications, accommodations and recognitions; some of which include Combat Medical Badge, Non Article 5 NATO Medal for Service with NATO in relation to ISAF Operation during the period, the Army Commendation Medal, The Bronze Star Medal and many others.
Tim, a member of Payne Avenue Baptist Church, accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized in his early twenties. No matter where he was in the world he made sure that his light was shining for Jesus.
Tim is preceded in death by great grandfather, William Anderson; grandfathers Melvin Anderson, and Edward Belvins; grandmother, Willie Myers; infant sister, Nicole Anderson; and mother-in law, Roberta McPherson Davidson.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his beloved wife, Johnette Davidson-Anderson; daughters, Brionna and Tyra; sons, Timothy and Shaun. He also leaves to cherish his memory; father, Vernon Anderson, Sr.; mother, Belinda Anderson, brothers, Vernon (Barbara) Anderson of Knoxville, TN; Byron (Dorothy) Anderson of San Antonio, TX; grandmother Beulah Blevins of Washington, DC ; father-in-law, John (Lisa) Davidson; uncles and aunts; Betty Martin, Charles (Bertha) Myers, John (Pam) Myers, James (Jane) Myers all of Knoxville, TN, Deloris Myers of Tampa, FL, Calister Hamlett of Knoxville, TN, LeVerne Anderson; his aunt who was like a sister; Sherrie (Barry) Green of Baltimore, MD and sister in-law, Valerie Davis of Knoxville, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. followed by funeral service at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Interment will be Monday April 25, 2011 at Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike Knoxville. Service will conclude with full military honors and a full dove release.
