She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Murry, Henry Jones, Reverend Wilburt and Lillian Hinton, Sr. Survivors: husband, Marvin Patrick; parents, Melissa Jones and Sidney Hinton I; sisters, Alexus (Richard Stokes) and Latanya Curry; brothers, Sidney Hinton II and Adrian Harris; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; very special uncle, Richard (Hope) Babson; a dear friend Zenobia Alexander. Thursday, September 19th, 2013Wade, Claude “Tap” J. age 56, of Nashville, TN went home to the Heavenly Father to receive his wings on September 19, 2013. Claude was the first child of the Percy Wade and Willie lue Wade. He was born on November 28, 1956 in Vaden, Mississippi. Claude was a 1974 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He served in the United States Army for three years. He confessed a faith in Jesus Christ under the pastorate of the late Reverend Dozier McKinnon at True light Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Wade. A member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, retired from St. Mary’s Medical Center and a member of the Austin High School Class of 1958. Preceded in death by son, DeWayne Perry Gillespie; her parents, James E. and Hildrith D. Johnson Gillespie; and other relatives. She will be remembered by her children, Juanita G. (Phillip) Harris, Paul Gillespie I, Lisa G. Davis and Carol Gillespie; siblings, Frank Gillespie, Sylvia (James) Hughes, Dr. J. Harvey and Hildrith C. Monday, September 16th, 2013Dales, Pearlie Mae – departed her life peacefully on September 16, 2013 at the University of TN Medical Center. She was the wife of Isiah Dales, Sr. mother of Mary Carter (Herbert, Sr.), Isiah, Jr. (Mary), Thomas (Bettie), Liz and Lawrence (Andrea) Dales. She is survive by 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Frances Toomer; a host of nieces; nephews cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM with funeral services to follow 4:00 PM at Unity Mortuary Chapel with Minister Van Hardin officiating. Carl Summersour, Jr.
Monday, September 16th, 2013Carl Summerour, Jr. was born on January 27, 1923 in Marietta, Georgia to Carl and Clara Summerour. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 16, 2013 at NHC Columbia in Columbia, Tennessee after a four-day stay. He was educated in the Knoxville School System and was a member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church. After attending Austin High School, Carl enlisted in the United States Army during the World War II. Upon returning to Knoxville, he went to work for the Northrop Southern Railroad Company, where he remained until his retirement in 1986. He later took employment with Dynamic Security, Incorporation until leaving at the age of eighty-five (85). He then worked briefly for U.S. Security Associates until failing health made this impossible. He married Katherine Elizabeth Goins in 1947 and remained married until her death in 2010. To this union three children were born. In addition to Katherine, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Anthony Summerour; brother, Clarence Summerour; and sisters Clara Banks and Alta Boyd. Those left to cherish his memories are son, Edwin Eugene (Brenda) Summerour; daughters, Aquilla Ellington and Maxine Loretta (Don) Dixon; sister-in-law, Agnes Bush; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 12:00 to 12:30 PM with funeral services to follow at 12:30 PM at Unity Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Reginald Strong officiating & Eulogist. Sunday, September 8th, 2013Brown, Kevin L. – born November 27, 1962 in Knoxville, TN. He departed his life peacefully on September 8, 2013. He was the fifth child out of nine born to the parents of Thurman Lloyd Brown and Ethel Lee Brown-Minor. He attended Austin East High School and further his education at Job Corp. Kevin was employed at The University of Tennessee Medical Center for 27 years faithfully. Kevin loved outdoors activities after a long day work and spending time with his children. He was preceded in death by: his father, Thurman Lloyd Brown; grandparents, John Henry Atkins and Odessa L. Atkins; uncle, Larry Atkins, cousin, Allison Opara; brother, Kenneth Clemons; nephew, Evan Jaileth Anderson and brother in law, Isaiah Robertson.
