Donald R. Lawson

Lawson, Donald R. – departed this life on August 10, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age to later join Tabernacle Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Homer and Zelma Lawson; sisters, Eleanor Breeden and Betty Terry; mother-in-law, Eloise Brown and a very special aunt, Lois Littles.

 He leaves to mourn his passing: a loving and devoted wife, Patricia Lawson; loving children: Gerald (Ariel) Wells of Nashville, TN, Brandon Wells and Arthur Lawson, both of Knoxville, Chimere Wells of Brandon, MS, Carla, Nancy, Aishia and Asia Lawson, Susan Johnson and Donna Smith, all of Knoxville; special grandchildren, who were the joy of his life: Genesis Wells of Nashville, TN, Acasia Lawson, Brandon Wells-Marengo, James Kirby, Crystal and Tabatha Smith, Latasha Clemmons and Michael Johnson, all of Knoxville; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Jo) Lawson of Maryville, TN; brothers-in-law, Eddie Wells and John Brown, both of Knoxville.  The family will be at the home 2541 Linden Avenue.  Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel.  Pastor Christopher R. Battle, Sr. officiating.

Gilbert E. Sanders

(Gilbert_Sanders_program) Sanders, Gilbert E. – of Sterchi Village, 1646 Maremont Road, Knoxville, Tennessee, slept away on Monday, August 9, 2011 at Shannondale Healthcare Center. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Gilbert attended Knoxville City Schools. He was a truck driver for Colonial Freight Systems, Inc. for over 30 years, driving all over the United States. Left to cherish his memory: mother, Liz “Mamma Liz” Sanders; first wife, companion Arlease “Lisa” Freeman –Sanders; daughter, April Sanders; son, Brian (Gail) Sanders, Mableton, Ga.; grandchildren, Karyea Sanders, Tein Williams, Brian Christian Sanders and Allona Stanfield; brothers, Lindsey “Lindell” (Debra),  Savannah, GA, Anthony “Tony” (Nancy KK) and Ronald Sanders, Knoxville; aunts, Mellow M. Every, Lenora Davis and Audrey (Nathaniel) Mitchell, Newark, NJ; devoted nieces, who were also his caregivers, Tiara Sanders and Kaynisha; devoted nephew, Jeffrey Davis, a host of other nieces, nephews and relatives; close childhood friend, James (Nim) Slay and special friend, Brenda Bishop. Special thanks to his co-workers at Colonial Freight Company, Shannondale Healthcare Center 5th floor staff for their excellent care and Gary Braden and family. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Unity Mortuary at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011. Visitation will be on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with funeral service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Reverend A. D. Baxter, Eulogist. Interment will immediately follow the service at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Maryville Pike.  The service will conclude with a full dove release. The family will be at the home of “Mamma Liz”, 3001 Lay Avenue.
