Tolbert, Flutchie B.- age 97, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Alcoa, Tennessee on Friday morning, August 19, 2011. She was born September 1, 1914 in Manchester, Georgia and later moved to Alcoa,Tennessee. The move was a result of her father obtaining a job at the Aluminum Company. She attended Charles M. Hall School. Accepting Jesus as her personal Savior many years ago, she became a member of St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Tolbert’s passions were cooking and most importantly caring for her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Adline Bryant, son, George O. Tolbert, Jr. and granddaughter, Marteace Y. George. Mrs. Tolbert leaves to cherish her memory: daughters: Claudette Kirk and Annie Sudderth of Alcoa, Gwendolyn (Ronald) Black of Oak Ridge; grandchildren: Steven (Kathleen) Kirk of Australia, James Sudderth, Jr. of Maryville, Lesley (Andy) Wood of Nashville, Ron (Laura) and Chris (Sonya) Black, both of Oak Ridge; Adam Black of Cookeville; Kevin and Kim Ferrer of New York; great grandchildren: Kevin Ferrer, Jr. and Michael Shannon, both of New York, Schlise and Steven Kirk, Jr., both of Texas, LaTisha Sudderth of Alcoa, Vann Kennedy Wood of Nashville, Donovan, Cameron and Caden Black, all of Oak Ridge; great great granddaughter, Alani Black of Alcoa; step great grandchildren, Bryson and Seth Caldwell of Oak Ridge; brother, Ernest Bryant of Friendsville, TN; nephew, Billy Bryant of Alcoa; nieces: Dee Dee Horton, Judy Carter, Linda Kinte and Neda Hardnett; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to name. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at the Unity Mortuary Chapel. Elder Dwight Frazier, Eulogist. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at Sherwood Memorial Gardens where a full dove release will conclude the service.
