De’Armond, Bryan Robert Matthew – age 18, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 15, 2011. Bryan was employed by McDonalds and an active participant in the WAVE program at the University of Tennessee. Preceded in death by grandfathers, Alfred James Williams and Clarence De’Armond; uncles, James Williams and Hastin Watts and an aunt, Evornica Watts. Bryan leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving mother, Dallie Lee Williams De’Armond; father, Jeffery De’Armond; siblings: Anisha, Ashley and Jeffery De’Armond; grandmothers, Betty Jane Williams and Frances De’Armond; aunts: Kim (James) Sanders, Denita (Sam) Callins, Shelita Williams, Rosa (John) Paschal, Betty Jean Watts, Beverly Bonam and Sandra Gaston; uncles: Kent (Fenisha) Williams, Harvey Williams, Homer Watts, Clarence Michael and Gregory De’Armond; cousins, Brina Tate and Jamila Gaston and a host of other relatives to include many more cousins and friends. Thursday, April 7th, 2011Chesney, Marie Antoinette (Angie)– age 49 of Knoxville, passed away on April 7, 2011. She is preceded death by her father Louis Chesney, grandmother Katherine Reece, grandfather Samuel Reece and aunt Shirley Tate. Survivors to include a very devoted mother Beatrice Chesney; a loving sister Carolyn Chesney; one brother John Chesney; three devoted nieces: Normitha (Bo) Queener, Charmika (Greg) Elder and LaDawnna (Daniel) Agnew; two nephews Carl and Johnathan Chesney. To cherish her memory, “Angie” leaves behind her little dumplings, three great nephews: Sidney and Asad Salaam and Tyson Chesney and a great niece Jade Marie. Captain Timothy Shaun Anderson
Wednesday, April 6th, 2011Anderson, Captain Timothy Shaun.– born September 28, 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee, returned to his Heavenly Father on April 16, 2011 at Norton Brownsboro hospital in Louisville, Kentucky after a long courageous battle with lymphoma.
He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, son, grandson, brother, Captain, nephew, cousin and friend…affectionately known as Daddy, Tim & T.A.
Captain Anderson received his high school diploma from Holston High School in 1987, his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Saint Leo University and two Master of Art degrees in Human Resources Development and Human Resources Management from Webster University.
Captain Timothy S. Anderson ended his journey actively and proudly serving his country for twenty years in the United States Army. During his service, Captain Anderson strove for excellence leading with strength, wisdom, humility and integrity. As he served, he received various certifications, accommodations and recognitions; some of which include Combat Medical Badge, Non Article 5 NATO Medal for Service with NATO in relation to ISAF Operation during the period, the Army Commendation Medal, The Bronze Star Medal and many others.
Tim, a member of Payne Avenue Baptist Church, accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized in his early twenties. No matter where he was in the world he made sure that his light was shining for Jesus.
Tim is preceded in death by great grandfather, William Anderson; grandfathers Melvin Anderson, and Edward Belvins; grandmother, Willie Myers; infant sister, Nicole Anderson; and mother-in law, Roberta McPherson Davidson.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his beloved wife, Johnette Davidson-Anderson; daughters, Brionna and Tyra; sons, Timothy and Shaun. He also leaves to cherish his memory; father, Vernon Anderson, Sr.; mother, Belinda Anderson, brothers, Vernon (Barbara) Anderson of Knoxville, TN; Byron (Dorothy) Anderson of San Antonio, TX; grandmother Beulah Blevins of Washington, DC ; father-in-law, John (Lisa) Davidson; uncles and aunts; Betty Martin, Charles (Bertha) Myers, John (Pam) Myers, James (Jane) Myers all of Knoxville, TN, Deloris Myers of Tampa, FL, Calister Hamlett of Knoxville, TN, LeVerne Anderson; his aunt who was like a sister; Sherrie (Barry) Green of Baltimore, MD and sister in-law, Valerie Davis of Knoxville, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. followed by funeral service at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Interment will be Monday April 25, 2011 at Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike Knoxville. Service will conclude with full military honors and a full dove release.
Matthew Aurelius Jones, Jr.
Wednesday, March 30th, 2011Jones Jr. Matthew Aurelius (aka Matt Jones)- an “International Freedom Fighter”, Freedom Singer and Field Secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), departed this life on March 30, 2011 in New York City. Arrested 29 times during the Civil Rights Movement, Matthew Jones, a prolific songwriter and composer produced more than 500 Freedom songs.
Matthew A. Jones Jr. was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 17, 1936 to the union of Father Matthew Aurelius Jones, Sr. and Olivia Beatrice Browning. (Deceased). Besides his parents, Matthew Jr. was predeceased by his sister Ruth (Rose) Hicks and a nephew, Ronald G. Hicks.
Left to cherish his memory are: his beloved wife and soul mate, Shelly D. Jones of New York, NY; beloved sons, Matthew A. Cumberland Church. Raymond was a faithful member of New Covenant Baptist Church and a former Deacon at Church of God, Maryville. He was a longtime employee of Markman’s and Zales. He was preceded in death by: his wife of 47 years, Wanda Reeves; parents, Frank Reeves, Sr and Mabel Parker, and sister; Josephine Mitchell. He loved his family dearly. Survivors: sons, Rod (Norma) Reeves and Christopher “PJ” Reeves; daughters, Lakesha Reeves (Keith) McKnight and YuVonka M.
