Odom, Lafreda Moore – passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. Formerly a faithful member of Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church and at the time of her passing, she was a devoted and faithful member of Community Evangelistic Church. She retired from Fort Sanders Regional with over 35 years of service as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. Lafreda was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1956. Mrs. Odom was predeceased by her husband, Richard Odom, Sr., parents, Churchill Everett and Eula Armstrong Moore and grandmother, Callie Moore Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Shelia (Gregory, Sr.) Hensley, Rigila Odom and Constance Johnson, both of GA and Charlyn (Corey) Watkins of Murfreesboro, TN; sons, Richard Jr. and Randall Odom; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters: Paula Newton, Lavonia Moore and Sherwood Davis; brother, Rev. Churchill Moore, Sr.; devoted friend, Beverly Bonam; a host of other relatives and many friends. A special thank you to Dr. McCachren and the staff at Fort Sanders, 8th floor. On Saturday, September 15, 2012, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, with the funeral to follow at Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church. Elder Reginald Strong, eulogist. The entombment will immediately follow the funeral at Sherwood Memorial Gardens where it will conclude with a full dove release.

I worked with Mrs. Odom for many years at the Fort. She was such a caring person and a wonderful nurse. I am so sorry for your loss.
I worked with Freda for many years and I loved her. She was a wonderful person and she will be greatly missed.I am sorry for your loss of her.She always had a smile whenever I saw her.
