Wilson, Dora Eloise Clinkscales – Knoxville, TN went Home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 6, 2012. She was born in Iva, South Carolina and was an educator for 30 years with Knox County Schools and 5 years at Doris Walker Academy before retiring. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, East for 40 years, a dedicated member of Greater Warner AME Zion Church’s 6am Prayer Group and member of BSF Bible Studies Group. She dedicated her life to helping others. She was co-founder of Crutcher Memorial Youth Enrichment Center where she volunteered daily for 19 years, Community Advisory Board Member for East TN PBS and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She attended South Carolina State College and graduated from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.
Preceded in death by husband, Woodrow Z. Wilson, Jr.; parents, Vance and Mary Clinkscales; brother Oscar Clinkscales and sister Sylvia Clinskscales.
She is survived by children, Woodrow Z. (Catherine) Wilson III, Gwendolyn (Samuel) McKenzie and Walter Wilson, Sr. all of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Woodrow Z. Wilson IV, Jameslyn (Chris) Kinney, Maryville, TN, Christopher (Erin) Summerour, Ronald Summerour, Walter Wilson, Jr., Jayden Wilson and Pashion Davis; great-grandchildren, Scottlyn Penson, Christopher and Morgan Summerour; siblings, Dr. Jerry Clinkscales II of Tuskegee, Alabama, Melrose (Theodore) Hunter, Asheville, North Carolina, Lillian (Albert) Greene, Columbia, South Carolina, Vance (Harriet) Clinkscales, Jr. of Anderson, South Carolina, Dr. William (Veronica) Clinkscales, Sr. of Clemson, South Carolina and Joseph (Lula) Clinkscales, Iva, South Carolina and Cora (Curtis) Lee, Donalds, South Carolina; host of nieces, nephews and other family members and devoted friend, Mildred Summey.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, East 1601 Dandridge Avenue with services at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Valentino McNeal officiating. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Service to conclude with full dove release.
