Allen, Matthew Henry – age 70, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2010. He attended Beardsley Jr. High School Class of 1957. He was preceded in death by: mother, Cassie McGee; brother, Donald Williams and sister, Barbara Billingsley. He leaves to cherish his memories: brothers, James “Papa” (Yolanda), Paul “Dusty” (Yolanda) and Alvin (Mattie) McKenzie of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Juliette Day of Atlanta, GA and Debra (Louis) McKnight of Hopkinsville, KY; brotherly friend, Puddin (Tammy) Johnson; former wife, Loretta Allen; devoted friends, Mary Cline, Jimmie Duncan, Larry Carr, Moran family, Green Turf Golf Association and many devoted nieces, nephews and other family members. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Unity Mortuary 11:00 – 12:00 with services to follow. Elder Terence Pitchford officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Services to conclude with full dove release.

Arnold, Marcus Todd III, – went on a journey with our Lord on January 17, 2010. We were blessed by his presence, October 12, 2009. Preceded on his journey by: grandfather Marcus Arnold, Sr. Left to rejoice his life: mother, Shanera Romero; father, Marcus  Todd Arnold Jr.; sisters, Aleah, Xia, Nissiah and Kimoney Arnold; grandparents, Amber (Todd) Mathis and Tracy Ray; great-grandparents, Nancy Komero and Thoresa Shoemaker; and a host of family and friends. Clemons, Alva Jean (Jean) – age 76, departed this life January 16, 2010 at Parkwest Hospital. Born on March 22, 1933 to John Fitzgerald and Cleo and Josephine Nelson in Knoxville, TN. She is preceded by: parents: sister, Margarette Brown; brother, La Vera Nelson Sr; and a devoted friend, Cliff Love. She leaves to mourn her passing; daughter, Revelta Price; devoted grandchildren, Kevin and Sabrina Price; great-grandchildren, Tyrone Price and Ronnie Johnson; brother, Joe Lynn (Evelyn) Nelson; sister, Paula Nelson; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Nelson all of Knoxville, TN; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She leaves to cherish memories: children, Crystal Wimes, Chesapeake, VA, Tamaraw (Justin) Higgins; grandchildren, Margaret Kaitlyn Draper, Isaiah Sawyer, Danielle Clayton, John Gabriel Higgins, Justin Higgins Jr.; siblings, Fred Lee Duncan Jr. and Maria McAliley. Gary, Anthony C. (Tony) – age 54 of Knoxville entered into enternal rest January 6, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Lucille Gary; mother, Doris Scott Crump. Survivors include: devoted daughter, Talethia (Michael) White, Knoxville; father, Richard Gary (Los Angeles, CA); granddaughter, Kavaughni White; brothers, Dwight Gary, Aundra Gary (Los Angeles, CA, sisters, Tonja Martin, Stephanie Crump, Lekieisha (Lynton) Curwen (Los Angeles, CA); mother in-law, Mary Lane; 3 brothers in-law; 3 sisters in-law and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church. Service will follow with Reverend Michel S. E. Caldwell officiating. Winton, Gladys – age 82 was called home by her heavenly father on December 28, 2009. She was born February 5, 1927 in Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by: her father, Charlie Winton; mother, Pauline Winton; brother, Wittley Winton; niece, Loretta Watts; nephew, Jackie Ray Winton. She was a fun and out spoken mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended Greater Mt. Moriah FBH Church for numerous years until her health fail. Left to celebrate her home going: daughter, Christine Winton; sons, Willie (Rosella), Melvin, Ray (Denise) and Larry Winton; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy James and Frances Wiley; brother, Charlie Winton; a host of nieces and nephews; very devoted friends, Emma Ross and Olivia Hick. Special thanks to NHC and Staff. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM with services to follow at Mt. Moriah FBH Church with Elder Alonzo Rogers officiating. Interment New Gray Cemetery. The family will assemble at 1211 Calloway St.

Jones, Kathleen “Ping” – age 69 of Knoxville slipped away peacefully after a lengthily illness on December 26, 2009 at home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Florence Martin; three brothers and four sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons; Gregory, Lester and William White; daughter, Toni White; devoted twin sister, Katherine Clark; sisters, Charlotte Mitchell, Mary Ward, Evelyn Martin, Doris Ryan, Barbara Weaver, Trula Davis and Helen Seaborn; devoted friends, Shirley Fox, Matthew, Jackie, William and Laverne and others at the Friendship House; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others relatives. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 4:00-4:30 PM with funeral services to follow at Central Church of Christ, 1932 Woodbine Avenue Knoxville, TN. Martin, Carol Yvonne – went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital. Born February 25, 1950 to Overa Tinsley and (stepfather) Isaac Tinsley. She was a faithful member of First Calvary Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School, Bible Study, and church until her health failed. Carol loved her children and grandchildren dearly, and loved to cook and loved joking with her sister Minnie. She was preceded in death by her mother, Overa Tinsley and stepfather Isaac Tinsley; sister, Lavera Brown. She leaves to mourn her passing; daughters, Latosha and Anthony Johnson, Karen and Jasmine Martin; grandchildren Jeremy, Kristi, Skyler, Darin, Kenny, Shamarcus and Tyson. Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 11:30 AM -12:00 Noon with funeral service to follow at First Calvary Baptist Church. Reverend Benjamin Lewis officiating.
