Bobbie J. Hill

Hill, Mrs. Bobbie J. – age 80 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday September 25, 2012 at Beverly Park Place Health and Rehabilitation Center. Bobbie was born to Robert and Lillie Mae Dawkins Mills on June 4, 1932 in Newport, TN. Preceded in death by parents and devoted husband of 55 years, Edward O. Hill. She is survived by loving daughter, Karen Hill-Davis; grandson, Kevin Davis, U. S. Navy; granddaughter, Robyn Davis; great-grandchildren, Deidra and Rodney Davis; sister, Annette Vance, Newport, TN; brothers-in-law, Willard Hill of Muncie, IN and Gilford (Louella) Hill, Cleveland, TN. Bobbie was a graduate of Knoxville College and retired as a teacher from the Knoxville City School System after 30 years of service. She was a member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church for over fifty years and earned the distinction as a Golden Soror as a fifty-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. On Sunday, September 30, 2012, visitation with the family will be 6-7 p.m. at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church with funeral services to follow. Rev. Michel S. E. Caldwell officiating with Bishop Guilford Ronnie Hill, Eulogist. Entombment services will be on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Highland South Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Services to conclude with a full dove release. Boyd, Stephanie Ann born April 4, 1941 in Bronx, NY, passed away September 22, 2012 in Conyers, GA after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Boyd had been a resident of Knoxville since 1994. She leaves to cherish her memory, devoted husband of 50 years, Robert E. Boyd; four sons: David Boyd of Hawaii, Robert Boyd III of Conyers, GA, Paul Kenyatta Boyd of Lake Worth, FL and Malcolm Boyd of Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren: Dr. Christopher Boyd, MD, Jason Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Kylie Humber, Maleah Boyd, Kalissa Marion-Boyd, Jillian Boyd, Vaughn Marion-Boyd; two great grandchildren, Christopher Boyd and Maya Boyd; three devoted daughters-in-law: Nadine, Stephanie and Lisa; granddaughter-in-law, Sandi; sister, Donna Brown; a host of other relatives and friends. On Friday, September 28, 2012, the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Dr. Kay Reynolds of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church officiating. The interment will immediately follow the service at Old Salem Cemetery, Sevierville, TN.

Gary, Sharon – departed this life on September 13, 2012 at UT Medical Center. She was born September 28, 1965 to Eugene Johnson and Bobbie Howard. She attended Holston High School. Preceded in death by her father, sister, Belinda Pride and grandparents, Levi and Mildred Gary. Survived by son, Jarvis Hines; mother, Bobbie (Emanuel) Howard; siblings: Equilla (Danny) Howell, Shondia, Andrena of Cincinnati, OH, Paul and Aric Grimes, Ronald and Steven Gary; uncle, John Gary; aunt, Carolyn (John) Williams; a host of other relatives and friends. On Friday, September 21, 2012, a memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Johnny B. Williams

Williams, Johnny B. – departed this life on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Norris Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Williams was a charter member and deacon at Peace and Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church. He also sang in the PGMBC Male Chorus for many years. He retired from Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant with over 40 years of service. Deacon Williams loved the Lord and lived life to the fullest enjoying fishing and hunting as well. Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by daughter, Amy Williams; sons, Michael Williams, VA and Melvin Bassett; 6 grandchildren; special companion for over 40 years, Elizabeth Bassett; devoted friends, Paul Reagan and Rudy Warner; a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Norris Health and Rehabilitation, Amedysis Hospice, his church family and Kasondra Tatum. On Tuesday, September 18, 2012, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Pastor John Jordan officiating.

Odom, Lafreda Moore – passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. Formerly a faithful member of Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church and at the time of her passing, she was a devoted and faithful member of Community Evangelistic Church. She retired from Fort Sanders Regional with over 35 years of service as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. Lafreda was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1956. Mrs. Odom was predeceased by her husband, Richard Odom, Sr., parents, Churchill Everett and Eula Armstrong Moore and grandmother, Callie Moore Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Shelia (Gregory, Sr.) Hensley, Rigila Odom and Constance Johnson, both of GA and Charlyn (Corey) Watkins of Murfreesboro, TN; sons, Richard Jr. and Randall Odom; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters: Paula Newton, Lavonia Moore and Sherwood Davis; brother, Rev. Churchill Moore, Sr.; devoted friend, Beverly Bonam; a host of other relatives and many friends. A special thank you to Dr. McCachren and the staff at Fort Sanders, 8th floor. On Saturday, September 15, 2012, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, with the funeral to follow at Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church. Elder Reginald Strong, eulogist. Dora Eloise Clinkscales Wilson

Wilson, Dora Eloise Clinkscales – Knoxville, TN went Home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 6, 2012. She was born in Iva, South Carolina and was an educator for 30 years with Knox County Schools and 5 years at Doris Walker Academy before retiring. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, East for 40 years, a dedicated member of Greater Warner AME Zion Church’s 6am Prayer Group and member of BSF Bible Studies Group. She dedicated her life to helping others. She was co-founder of Crutcher Memorial Youth Enrichment Center where she volunteered daily for 19 years, Community Advisory Board Member for East TN PBS and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She attended South Carolina State College and graduated from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.

Preceded in death by husband, Woodrow Z. Wilson, Jr.; parents, Vance and Mary Clinkscales; brother Oscar Clinkscales and sister Sylvia Clinskscales.

She is survived by children, Woodrow Z. (Catherine) Wilson III, Gwendolyn (Samuel) McKenzie and Walter Wilson, Sr. all of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Woodrow Z. Wilson IV, Jameslyn (Chris) Kinney, Maryville, TN, Christopher (Erin) Summerour, Ronald Summerour, Walter Wilson, Jr., Jayden Wilson and Pashion Davis; great-grandchildren, Scottlyn Penson, Christopher and Morgan Summerour; siblings, Dr. Jerry Clinkscales II of Tuskegee, Alabama, Melrose (Theodore)  Hunter, Asheville, North Carolina, Lillian (Albert) Greene, Columbia, South Carolina, Vance (Harriet) Clinkscales, Jr. of Anderson, South Carolina, Dr. William (Veronica) Clinkscales, Sr. of Clemson, South Carolina and Joseph (Lula) Clinkscales, Iva, South Carolina and Cora (Curtis) Lee, Donalds, South Carolina; host of nieces, nephews and other family members and devoted friend, Mildred Summey.

Gilstrap, Laymon – age 79 of Knoxville passed September 4, 2012 at Tennova – St Mary’s Health Systems. He was a US Army Veteran and employed in the Airline field for over 22 years. Preceded in death by parents, Henry & Stella Gilstrap; brother, Norman Gilstrap; sister, Vivian Strap. Survivors wife, Phyllis Gilstrap; god-sister, Liz William; sisters-in-law, Katherine Ray and Mattie Patrick; nieces, Deborah Patrick, Phyllis Little and JoAnn Patrick; nephew, Charles Patrick. Family and friends will assemble at Unity Mortuary on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 12:45 PM to proceed to the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for graveside Service. Jr, Clemons, Esley D. – age 34 of Knoxville, TN departed this life on Sunday morning September 2, 2012 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Hubert Clemons, Sr.; grandmother, Myrdia B. Sherrod; uncle, Darrel Clemons.

He is survived by parents, Almetra Sherrod (Roger) Cohen and Esley D. Clemons, Sr.; son, Tiquaves; brothers, Durran, O’Bryan, Sherman, Deondre; sisters, Tiffany and Tiara; grandmother, Marjorie Sue Clemons; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sandra Lynn Newble McKinney

Sandra Lynn Newble McKinney – On Friday, August 31, 2012 the Lord called Sandra to join Him in her eternal home. Sandra was born on October 3, 1960 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Ernest Lynwood Rivers and Elsie Rhodes Newble.

Sandra began her walk with Christ at an early age joining Macedonia Baptist Church in Jackson, TN.  She graduated from Merry High School in 1978, and began her career with Proctor and Gamble where she remained for over 20 years. Upon moving to Knoxville, she became employed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). She also became a faithful member of Brown New Hope Baptist Church in Blaine, TN.

Sandra leaves to mourn and cherish her memory; devoted and loving husband, Austin H. McKinney; brother, Colis Newble of Antioch, TN; sisters, Linda and Pamela Newble of Jackson, Ernestine Henderson of Memphis, and Juanita Morrow of Whiteville, TN; brothers and sisters in-laws Wayne (Vicki) McKinney, Tonia McKinney of Knoxville, and Brenda (John) Brabson of Louisville, TN; mother in law, Elizabeth McKinney of Knoxville, and aunts Florence Powe and Geneva Rhodes of St. Louis, MO.
