David Dickey

Dickey, David “Big D”- entered into eternal rest on November 17, 2011 in Knoxville, TN.  A native of Louisville, KY, where he attended Jefferson County Public Schools and resided until his relocation in 1988.  He is preceded in death by father, Norman Dickey, stepmother, Bernice Dickey, stepfathers, Joe Hoosier and Van Carstarphen, Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Annetta Dickey; children: David  Burnett, Davida Nathan and Ashley Dickey; stepson: Donald (Stacy) Waters; two adopted children: Autumn Jackson and Terry Flemming; 14 grandchildren; loving and devoted mother Elnora Hoosier Carstarphen; siblings: Jerome, Wayne and Kelvin Hoosier, Lenora White, Harriet Spearman, Darlene Davis, Yolanda Yates and Latrice Dickey; stepbrother, Ronnie (Eva Jo) Malone; stepsisters, Wanda (Daryl) Smith and Beverly (Roland) Barbour; uncles, Lawrence (Van) Dickey and Abbula (Mattie) Abdullah; aunt, Barbara Dickey; great aunt, Mattie Price; 5 nieces: LaTisha (John) Huguley, La’Tonda (Ushawn) Morton, Crystal Davis, Diayel Simpson and Kelsey Hoosier; 5 nephews: Jerome (Christie) Hoosier, Jr, Curtis Perry, Doanta and Reginald (Jennifer) Davis and Demetrius Hoosier; a host of other relatives to include the Westfield family and special friends at Oak Ridge High School and Open Door Church family.  Special thank you to Dr. Hanna, staff at Medical Critical Care Unit at University of Tennessee Hospital, Nurse Manager Jean Fitzgerald and 9 East Staff, and Dr. Jerry Epps and the entire Department of Anesthesia at UT Hospital.  Saturday, November 26, 2011, the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel, 1425 McCalla Avenue, Knoxville, TN  37915.  Reverend Steve Simpson officiating.  Interment will immediately follow the service at Lynnhurst Cemetery.  A full dove release will conclude the service.
