Barbara Ann “Toodle” Hall, 82, of Knoxville, departed this life on Friday, December 21, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on July 29, 1936 to the late Mildred Campbell and Essley Sims. She was the second oldest of 9 siblings, of which older brother George R. Sims and younger sister Edith M. Thomas preceded her in death. Barbara came to Knoxville in her early 20s and lived here until she left the world. She married Henry Edward Hall and had four beautiful children: Cathy (predeceased), David Sr., Greg Sr., and Patricia. Barbara was known for being the backbone of the family and was a well-known friend of the community. She was a strong believer of the Lord. She loved her family and loved her big party celebrations. She was a wonderful friend to three special ladies who also preceded her in death: Gloria Jean, Cora Mae and Nancy Tate. Barbara departed this life on Friday, December 21, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her devoted daughter, Patricia (Frank) Hall; stepdaughter, Lawanda White; two sons: Gregory (Pearl) Hall Sr., and David (Margaret) Hall Sr.; grandchildren: Dayeshia, Tony, Sparkle, Ronnie, Domonique, Damian, Shadavia, Niyesha, Danielle, Patricia, Greg Jr., David Jr., Lakeshia, Angelel, Brent, Tyrelle, Leah and Kimora; a host of 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; surviving brother and sisters: Earl S. (Era) Wagner of Wettumpa, Alabama, Frances A. (Jim) Bass of Elizabethton, TN, Loretta Thomas of Panama City, FL, Ernestine Thomas of Cleveland, OH, Hilda K. Thomas of Las Vegas, NV and Jennifer (Jeff) Graham of Gray, TN; and a host of devoted friends and family members to include: TaCola Tate, Jewel Winston, Pearl Weathers, Melkika Tate, Angie & Frank Day, Frances Bass, Antonio Hall, Niyesha Smith and Mary Hall. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 12-1 PM in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow with Minister Earl S. Wagner officiating. A horse-drawn carriage will escort Mrs. Hall to her final resting place at Oakland Cemetery following the service. A white dove release will conclude the services.
