Ronald Edward Parkey, age 68, departed this life on June 18, 2017 at his home in Knoxville, TN. This charismatic man was born to John and Kathleen Parkey on September 20, 1948 in Morristown, TN where he lived until he moved to the Knoxville area. His family and friends knew him as a good, kind, “down to earth” man who they will greatly miss. We his family, daughter Angel and son-in -law Steve Scott, daughter Jaqueline Parkey and grandchildren Kortney and Jordan Scott, D’Andre Parkey and Bianca Hatfield, will forever and always remember his smile, his love of animals, strong faith in God, sense of humor and the undeniable generosity and love he shared with others. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, 1425 McCalla Avenue, Knoxville, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow. Fellowship with the family will proceed at 5501 Holston Drive, Knoxville. Thoughts and prayers to Angel and family. Mr. Parkey’s warm smile and optimistic approach to life will certainly be remembered.
Prayers and condolences to Mr. Parkey’s family. He was always funny and extremely helpful and trustful.
My prayers are with you and the family. Your father was a classmate of mine during our high school days. Always remember the good times that you shared with your father and continue those memories with your children so they will know the legacy of your family and family traditions will continue, this is so very important for black families.
Angel I don’t know if you remember me or not. I am the son of Don Smith that ed used to run around with. I sure hate hearing about your fathers death. We were in Gulf Shores Alabama on vacation when he passed. I sure am going to miss him. After my dad’s death just being around ed was a comfort to me. We are praying for your family and dee dee.. We lived in Mentor when ya’ll lived in miser station, friendsville.
I met Ronnie in the early 70’s when he worked for an oil refinery on the river. I was new at filling tankers, and Ronnie showed me “the ropes” on good technique and safety. I always hoped Ronnie was on duty when I made my trip to fill my tanker….He was a good person and friend, I will miss him.
