Edward “Chief” Henderson, Jr.

Edward ‘Chief’ Henderson, Jr. was born February 16, 1973. Chief passed away peacefully at Methodist Medical Center and joined his Lord on Sunday January 12, 2014 at the age of 40 years old. Chief was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnnie and Sarah Elizabeth Harris, Renfro, Sr. and Vinnie Lee Henderson; uncles, Renfro Jr., and Jerome Henderson. He was also affectingly known to us as “Big Chief and Jr” either name you used he answered, he was welled love by all. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School class of 1992. He played football and loved the sport. He graduate from Atlanta Technical Institute, Atlanta GA. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Georgia Tech; taught HVACC class at the University of Tennessee and was currently enrolled at Pellissippi State Community College. He worked at Wild Wing Sports Bar and Grill as a bouncer in Turkey Creek. Jr. was a self-made labor who loved to use his hands and shared all his God given talents. He worked at Henderson Heating and Air, worked on cars etc. you name it he worked on that item because he loved his work. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church joining at an early age. He was currently attending Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Knoxville at the time of his death. Big Chief as his mother  so loving called him leaves to cherish  his memory mother, Johnita Harris Henderson; father,  Edward (Cornell) Henderson; brothers, Jermaine Henderson, Arshawn Henderson; sisters, Janicia Henderson and Ebony (Corey) Booker; uncles, Gary (Pat) Henderson, Joseph (Julie) Harris all of Oak Ridge, William James Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; cousins, Deondrae Slater, Cameron Caldwell, Kayla Ralston and Kaylie Wagney all of Oak Ridge, TN and Kayia Beckley of Knoxville, TN ; nieces, Jasmine and Jada Parsons Harriman, TN; nephews, Terdarius Thomas, Ja’Taalis, Ja’Shalin, La’Rius and La”Miere; aunts, Ruthaleen  Morrow, Florida, Betty Jones, Ohio, Julie Rivers, North Carolina, Joyce Pittman, Virginia, Kathryn (Eric) Hunt, KY and Ruby Henderson of  Oak Ridge; a host of cousins and friends too numerous to name; special friend, Latoya Shorts of Oak Ridge; devoted special friend, Cheryl Austin and Chaunea  Austin of Oak Ridge. The family will receive friends from 12noon until 1 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 195 Wilberforce Avenue with the funeral following at 1:00 PM with Elder T. L. Mims officiating. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Services to conclude with full dove release.

    You are in our thoughts and prayers during this time. Junior was such a good and kind person. He will be missed by many.
