Mack Turner

Turner, Mack – of Knoxville, formerly of Calhoun, GA, departed this life on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mack was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Rule High School and was employed by Knox County School System primarily at Green Elementary School. He was a spirit filled man who loved the Lord and cared deeply for others. He had a big heart caring for those near and far. Mack was a proud supporter of Feed the Children Organization where he adopted many children in other countries. He is predeceased by his father, Junior Gregory and grandparents, Sam (Lucy Mae) Turner. Survived by wife, Alice Turner; son, Keith (LaKeeva) Turner; 2 stepdaughters; eight grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; mother, Ann (Wilbert) Boatwright; brothers: Ricky (Betty), Ronnie and Jeff Turner and Jerry Curtis of Alabama; sisters, Deborah Turner and Shirley (Michael) Johnson; aunts: Margaret Smith, Wallene, Betty and Pauline Turner, all of Calhoun, GA; uncle, Jimmy (Jessie) Turner of Calhoun, GA; devoted cousin and caretaker, Kenneth Rodgers; close friends: Alberta Morrison, Ronnie Nelson and Charles Stone (cousin); a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to UT Hospice. On Friday, October 5, 2012, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, funeral to follow at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Valentino McNeal officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at TN State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway. Full military honors and dove release will conclude the service.
