Brown, Adrian Diane – age 56, of 2606 Chillicothe Street, entered into eternal rest on May 30, 2012. Preceded in death by mother, Vionnette Johnson Brown, brother, Philip Kirk Brown, grandparents, Sarah Johnson, Walter Jack and Henry (Ruby Lee) Brown, other relatives, Terrie and Phillip Johnson and Tonk McKenzie. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Beverly (fiancé, Clifford Smith, Jr.) and Allan Brown, Latravia (Latrodrick) Rodgers, all of Knoxville and Anthony Cartwright, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; twelve grandchildren; father, Philip C. Brown; siblings, Michael (Tracy) Brown of Knoxville, Vincent (Darlene) Brown and Crystal (Bobby) Gray, both of Miami, FL; former husbands, John Tisdahl and Allan Cartwright; devoted friends: Mary Garret, Angie Brodie, Latitha Goins, Candace Hall, Laretha Smith and Yvonne Fortson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Steve Simpson officiating. The interment will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at New Gray Cemetery where a full dove release will conclude the service.

Willis “Mac” J. Jackson

Jackson, Willis “Mac” J. – departed this life on May 29, 2012 at FSRMC. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and Austin High School; he was a pillar in his community and lived his life to the fullest. He was a true outdoorsman, avid fisherman and a huge sports fan. He coached baseball and played basketball. He enjoyed other activities such as traveling, boating and playing slots at the casino. Mac was a very generous and cheerful giver and a hard worker. He was a tool & die maker by trade while working at Boeing Aircraft, an independent truck driver and retired from ANR & ATL Freight System Inc. He was a member of Teamsters Local 135. Preceded in death by parents, Willis Sr. and Urgensteen Cook Jackson, sisters, Alice Holland and Alvercia Porter, and other relatives, Kendall, Kashar and Ciondre’ Porter and Walter Kemp. He leaves to cherish his memory: loyal and devoted wife, Kerri M. Jackson; step children, Tyesha and Tremond Robinson; the apple of his eye, little Miss Jahliya Robinson; sons, Willis III and Anthony Jackson; daughters: Ronda and Ann Jackson, Sonia Baker, Cheryl Newsome and Kim Washington; other children: Sandy, Randy and Danielle; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; nieces: Gaynelli Williams, Angela Blair, Annetha and Bescetta Porter; favorite nephew, Donivalde “Eggy” Porter; in-laws, C. Wilson, A. Williams, W. Henderson and C. Kemp; a host of other relatives and friends to include devoted friends, David (Mary) Murray, Curtis Ray, Uncle Gary and the Glenn and McNair families and the Greater Shiloh PFC family. Special thanks to North Physicians Group, staff at FSRMC, Thompson Cancer Oncology, Statcare Pulmonary Consultants and Covenant Home Health. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with the funeral to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Bishop T.L. James Nathaniel Cobb

Cobb, James Nathaniel – age 67, formerly of Augusta, GA was born October 13, 1944 in Knoxville, TN. He departed this life to be with our heavenly Father on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. He worked as a grounds keeper at Unity Mortuary for many years. Preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Mae Cobb and nephew, Vernon Lee Cobb. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Glenda A. Booker, Atlanta, GA; grandsons: Andre’ Booker and Jeremy Motley; great grandson, Mason Kain Booker; mother, Estella Whitaker; sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and George “PeeWee” Mathis; uncle and aunt, George and Wilma Stacy; former wife, Geraldine Cadle; devoted companion, Essie Goody (NHC Fort Sanders); a host of other relatives and friends to include the Unity Mortuary family. Jamesetta (Jamie) Moultry Buchanan

Buchanan, Jamesetta (Jamie) Moultry, 61, of Knoxville, was called from labor to reward on Monday, May 21, 2012 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Hazel Moultry Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory, devoted husband of 35 years, Donnie Buchanan; children, Kellie and Keith (Diona) Layden, and Donald (Rodnika) Buchanan Jr.; grandchildren, Naya and Daylen Buchanan, Christopher and Caleb Layden, and Chelsie  Means; siblings, Horace, Thomas Jr., Erainia, and Claxyton Moultry; sisters-in-law and caregiver, JoAnna Burton; devoted aunt, Carolyn Chandler, and cousin, Maxine Donaldson, friend Nadine Bagwell, the Austin East Class of 1969, and other friends and relatives too numerous to name. Special thanks to the caring staff at Select Specialty Hospital. Ella Mae Duncan

Monday, May 21st, 2012

 Duncan, Ella Mae – was born March 21, 1925 in Knoxville, Tennessee and departed this life on May 21, 2012 at her home. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Charles A. Duncan; to this union ten children were born. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, sons, Ralph Penn and Charles Crippen, daughters, Janezina Bell and Margaret (George) Manning, grandchildren: Courtney, Darryl, Mark and Robert III. She leaves to mourn her passing: sons, Clarence of Rockford, Ill and Marvin Duncan (Kim Moore); daughters: Anita (Robert) Means, Karen, Marilyn and Tammy Duncan; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; devoted daughter-in-law, Brenda Duncan of Birmingham, AL; goddaughter, Lynn Maples; a host of other relatives and friends. Friday, May 25, 2012, the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel. Reverend John Jordan officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at New Gray Cemetery. A full white dove release will conclude the service.

Grace Juanita Irvin Glass

Glass, Grace Juanita Irvin – age 106, passed May 16, 2012. She was born to the late Walter and Sparta Irvin on September 1, 1905 in Mechanicsville. At age nine she joined Logan Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, serving as Sunday school secretary and organist by the time she turned 16. She was organist of Logan Temple’s Senior Choir for 49 years, Church treasurer and Trustee Board member, and Director and organist of the Rogers Memorial Baptist Church Senior Choir for 11 years with her friend Margaret Gaiter. She is a graduate of Knoxville College and a retired Knoxville City Schools teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Fritz Glass, and brother Harry Walter Irvin. Family will receive friends Monday, May 21 at noon, Logan Temple A.M.E. Zion Church. Services begin at 12:30 PM. Rev. Teresa Oglesby is the eulogist. Interment is at Holly Hills Cemetery on Chapman Highway. A full dove release will conclude the service.

Graves, Carlos E. Sr., age 62 of Knoxville, TN went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at home. Graduate of East High Class of 1967. Retired employee from the Department of Energy Y-12 Plant. Preceded in death by mother, Mary L. Graves; sister, Donna Blakney; daughter, Sonya Sullivan; grandson, Vent Sullivan. He is survived by wife, Camille Graves; son, Carlos (Misty) Jr.; daughter, Carla (Christopher) Graves-McCullough; father, Donald E. Graves; sisters, Sonya Gwinn, Vicki (Michael) Burris and Tamela Griffin; brother, Jerry Graves; aunt, Louise Warmley; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; devoted friend, George Welch; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1:30 to 2:00 PM with funeral services to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Revered Dr. Johnnie W. Skinner, Sr. officiating. Lorraine Martha Lewis

Lewis, Lorraine Martha, age 81 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was born to her parents in Opa-Locka, FL. She attended Stowe Teachers College in Chicago, IL. She worked with Catholic Charities in programs assisting clients with housing and other social problems. Lorraine was preceded in death by parents; two sisters, Mary Spann and Pinky Penn; brother, Louis Penn. She is survived by husband of 54 years, Edward Lewis, Jr.; sisters, Lucy Smith and Oral Lee Grant. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 12:00 Noon until 12:30 PM with funeral services to follow at Unity Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Leroy Franklin Officiating. Interment to follow at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway. Services to conclude with full dove release.
