Wynder, Edwin, L. “Rocky”- departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home. Mr. Wynder was an U.S. Army Veteran and later retired from TVA as an Accountant. Also known to many as one of the greatest saxophonist to ever play the instrument, Rocky was a gentle and humble man. He loved music but his greatest passion was his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, great friend and a true musician. Preceded in death by his parents, Arnetta and Edwin L. Wynder, Sr. and brother, Joseph Wynder. He is survived by a loving wife, Catherine and leaves a legacy with his sons: Larry, Jacksonville, FL, Dwight (Renee), Knoxville, TN, Brian (Cynthia), Atlanta, GA and Michael (Ranae) Wynder, Louisville, KY; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters: Mildred Farrow, Tacoma, WA, Bertha Mae Gant and Alice Whitehurst, both of Pensacola, FL; a host of relatives and friends to include special friends: Walter (Marilyn) Spears, Bobby Lane, Cleveland “Sonny” (Norma) Drummond, Bishop William ( Tamara) Pankey, Chico Crawford, Keith Brown, Donald Brown, Mark Boling, Tim (Yvonne) Beshea and Brenda Bishop. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at Greater Mount Moriah FBH Church. Bishop William Pankey officiating. Interment will follow the service at TN State Veterans Cemetery East, John Sevier Highway. It will conclude with full military honors and a full dove release. Survived by grandchildren, VicShyria Nelson and JarRon Harris; brother, James (Mary) Garfield, Jr., sisters: Mary Lynn Wells, Veronica (Claude) Powell, Cynthia Scott of Memphis, TN, Carla and Gyndola Wells and a host of other relatives and friends to include close friends, Debra (Al) Sumpter and Sheila. Thursday, January 26th, 2012Olin McGhee departed this life on January 26, 2012 at NHC Fort Sanders. He retired and was a long time employee of Swans Bakery. Preceded in death by wife, Barbara McGhee. Survivors are children, Shirley Bruton, Patricia Spears, Deborah (Bernard) Humphrey, Angela and Richard McGhee; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives. Monday, December 26th, 2011Walton, Anthony Eugene “Cool Uncle Tony”- age 50, born to the union of Bernice and Lester M. Walton, Sr. on October 27, 1961. Tony was a graduate of Austin East High School, Class of 1980. Tony was a U.S. Army Veteran and self employed as a Contract Electrician. Tony was a car enthusiast; his favorite model was the ultimate muscle car. He was a member of IBEW 760. Preceded in death by devoted father, Lester, Sr. and loving grandparents, Henry (Margaret) Walton. Tony leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Juanita Simmons Walton; step-daughters: Tyler and Lyigia Simmons; step-grandson, Keyland Simmons Moore; loving and devoted mother, Bernice Walton; devoted sisters: LeRhonda (Paul) Hill and Sherri Walton; devoted brother, Lester M. Walton, Jr.; 6 nieces and 1 nephew whom he loved as his own children; a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at UT Medical Center Critical Care Unit. Sunday, December 18th, 2011Britton, Mildred – born Mildred Mitchell in Knoxville, TN, was blessed with 91 years of love and life. Mrs. Britton passed from this life to begin a better life with our Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2011. During her 91 years, Mildred married and raised a family. After being widowed in 1956, Mildred earned a degree in Registered Nursing while raising six children. She leaves to celebrate her life, one daughter of three, Wanda, and one son of four, Ronald, and, many loved grand and great grand children. A memorial mass of love will be held by the family at Unity Mortuary Chapel, 1425 McCalla Ave., Knoxville, TN, on Tuesday morning, December 27, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
