Evelyn Mae Moore, age 91, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1924 to the late Lillian Moore. She was a member of Payne Avenue Baptist Church and a former member of Community Evangelistic Church. She was a graduate of the Austin High School Class of 1942. She retired as a dental assistant in Toledo, Ohio and after relocating to Knoxville, TN she became an employee of the CAC Senior Aid Program until her health declined. Preceded in death by mother, Lillian Moore; aunts, Gladys Brooks and Bessie Johnson; uncle, Rover Moore and cousins, Walter Brooks and Aileen Bagwell.  Survivors: devoted caregiver Saundra B. Johnson; cousins, Lillian Brooks, Barbara Lewis, Joseph (Henrietta) Brooks and Jimmy (Shelia) Bagwell; a host of other family members and friends. Special  thanks to the staff of Beverly Park Place Health and Rehab, Fort Sanders Intermediate Care Unit and the 8^th Floor Staff.  Family will receive friends at Unity Mortuary Chapel, 1425 McCalla Ave, Knoxville, TN on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 5:30-6:00pm with funeral service to follow with Rev. Booker, Earnest David – passed away on March 4, 2015 in Cleveland, OH. He was born on January 9, 1956. Preceded in death by parents, Susie Booker and David Earnest Boyd; brothers, George, Dean, and Woodson Booker; sister, Debbie Booker. Left to cherish his memory: loving wife, Jamesetta “Tabby” Morrison Booker; children, Kaeonna and Earnest Jamal Booker; step-children, Markiya, Monisa, Vincent and Meleek; mother-in-law, Pat Johnson; sisters, Sandra Tipton and Lisa Booker; brother, Donell Booker all of Knoxville; 2 grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 2:00-2:30 PM with celebration of life service to follow in the William V. Josephine F. Waymon – age 96, went to eternal rest March 4, 2015.  She was preceded in death by loving husband David C. Waymon. Josephine is survived by 2 brothers; 4 grandsons, 12 great-grandchildren, loving niece and care giver, Shirley Lundy, and a host of other nieces and nephews. Mays Griffin – age 61 departed this life on February 26, 2015 at Fort Sanders Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas, Sr. and Rosa Lee Griffin; brother, Thompson Lee Griffin; sister, Virginia Guinn; nephews, Shannon Allen and Aaron Allen, Jr.; nieces, Nicole Guinn and Shandoray Mostella. He is survived by his sisters and brothers Barbara and Aaron Allen, Sr.; Joann Harris, Wilma Buchanan, Douglas, Jr. Marion Kirk and Dolly, Connie, Terry and Virginia, Quanitha and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Unity Mortuary Chapel with service to follow with Elder Chester Green officiating. Interment to follow at New Gray Cemetery with full dove release and blanket presentation.

Ms. Pamela N. Sherrod – was born December 1, 1973 in Knoxville, TN. She was called to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by mother, Myrtle Sherrod, father, Percy May, grandmother, Willie M. Sherrod and nephew Esly Clemons Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory two loving sons, Tyliek Sherrod, D’erran Sherrod and Samson who she fondly called her son; one brother, Lynn Sherrod (Laurie) of Knoxville, TN., Almetra Cohen (Roger) of Spartanburg, SC and Jackie Coward of Knoxville, TN.; very special friend, Robert Smith of Jacksonville, FL., very devoted friends, Jowanna Dunlap, Bonnie Willis, Joy Stapleton, Stephanie Crump and Eljuan Sassy Middlebrook; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Ray, Katherine – of Knoxville departed this life on Monday, February 16, 2015 at U. T. Medical Center. Survived by her sister, Mattie Patrick; sister-in-law, Barbara Ray; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Jackson, Joshua J. – of Knoxville, departed this life on Monday, February 2, 2015 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Raymond Jackson; mother, Terry Jackson. Keith, Walter E. – of Knoxville, departed this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Fort Sanders Regional. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Allie Keith; wife, Mahalia Keith; sisters, Olivia Keith and Mayola Strong; brothers, Clifford Taylor, Archie Keith, Jr. and David Keith. He leaves to cherish his memories: children, Vanda Earls, Andre Keith, Gina (Greg) Hyatt, Karon (Quintel) James, Alison Keith and Walt Washington; grandchildren, Chloe Hyatt, Chandler Hyatt, Ahijah Washington and Jada McNair; sisters, Lillian McMullen and Stella Waller; brother, William Keith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives too numerous to name. The family would like to thank Staff at Brakebill Nursing Home and Ft. Sanders Regional for their loving care. Colbert, L.V.  – answered the Lord’s call on January 15, 2015 at his home. He was born in Etowah, Tennessee on November 18, 1933 to the late Jodie Colbert, Sr. and Macie Williams Colbert. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Tennessee Valley Elks and Keblah Temple #57. He leaves to celebrate his homecoming, former wife, Vernia Colbert; sons, Darrell and Anthony of  Knoxville, LaVernon Robinson of New York; daughters, Sharon Stewart, Sybil Sligh and Mary (Steven) Tate; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great – great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Smoky Mountian Hospice for their unfaltering service. Service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 2714 Brook Road.  Family will receive friends, 6:00 – 7:00 pm with celebration of life services to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. A.D. Baxter, officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, 11:30 AM at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. John Sevier Hwy. Services to conclude with Military Honors and full dove release.

Dr. Margaret Porter Hartsell – passed away on January 13, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on February 9, 1922, the beloved daughter and only child of Cecil Heiskell Porter and Ruth McKinney Porter. She graduated from Knoxville College in 1942 with a double major in History and English. She studied further at the University of Chicago and ultimately received her Master’s degree in English Education from New York University in 1958 and her Doctorate in Education from the University of Tennessee in 1983. She spent her entire career as an Educator, teaching at Livingstone College, the Knoxville Public Schools, Knoxville College and the University of Tennessee, where she retired as an Associate Professor of English. She is survived by her daughter, Cecelia Hartsell of New York City and dear friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Unity Mortuary Chapel from 12:30 until 1:30 PM with service immediately following with Pastor Kamau Kenyatta officiating. Interment at Highland Memorial Park, Sutherland Avenue. The Ivy Service for members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 3:00pm in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary.
