Preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Herlene Elder and Mr. Thomas Elder, Sr.; sisters, Mary and Doris Elder; brothers, John Elder and Thomas Elder, Jr.; best friend Ronald M. Nesbitt, Sr. He is survived by wife, Yolanda Elder; children, Shannon Matthews, Sonia (Garfield) Wilson, Tina Crawley, Willie J. Elder, Jr., Janine and James Thompson; brothers, Charles and Greg Elder; sister, Barbara Elder; 20 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. The Family will receive friends Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 3:30 until 4:00 pm at Unity Mortuary Chapel with funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Ronald Nesbitt, Jr. officiating. Interment to immediately follow at Mount Olive Cemetery. Services to conclude with full dove release. Arrangements made with integrity by Unity Mortuary. The body may be viewed after 11:00 am on Sunday, March 23, 2014 per request by family. Family and friends will assemble at 414 E.
