Stigall, Carhiya Lanelle – born October 12, 2012 fell asleep in Jesus’ arms on January, 3, 2013. Survived by parents, Rachel Hopkins and Christopher Stigall; grandparents, Rosella and (Anthony) Moulden, Rose and Marlin Prewitt; uncles, and aunts, Titus and (Christa) Stigall; numerous other aunts, uncles and relatives. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 11 AM until 12 Noon at Unity Mortuary Chapel with funeral service to follow. Reverend Ronald C. Freeman, Geneva – passed away peacefully at UT Hospital on December 29, 2012. She is preceded in death by parents, Louis and Louise Moultry; daughter, Gwen; son, Luther, Jr. She leaves to cherish fond memories: daughters, Patricia Mattress, Brenda Lamar, Joyce Freeman and Louise Meade; son, Mark Freeman; sons-in-law Robert Mattress, David Voner, James Meade and Melvin Brown; 18 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren other relatives and friends. Olden Turner Smith

Smith, Olden Turner, born June 30, 1931 went home to be with God on Friday, December 28, 2012. Olden was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retired after 29 years as photography technician for TVA and co-owner of a Cleaning contract business. He was a member of Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. His love in life was his family and taking pictures for both family, friends and professionally. He loved to tinker and work on building things. He was predeceased by his parents, Olden W. Smith and Mabel Turner. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Elizabeth Smith; daughter, Janelle (Fred) Jackson; sons, William T. Smith and Olden Michael Smith; grandchildren, Glenard Cortez Thorne, Kristen Harris, AL, Jymon Malik Smith, Jasmine Raschel Jackson and one great granddaughter, Paris R. Harris, AL; sisters, Audrey C. Fine, Washington, DC and Wanda E. Hardin, TN.; special cousin, Wendell “Sonny” Black of MD and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr.’s Muse, Ibach, Zibas, Kiss, McMillan, Jernigan and the Nursing staff of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center 3rd Floor West for all their care and compassion. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 3:30 to 4:00pm with the funeral service to follow at Overcoming Believers Church, Magnolia Ave with Reverend Daryl W. Arnold officiating. Interment will be Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at 11:30 am at the TN. State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway. The service will conclude with full military honors and a full dove release.

Kimbrough, Odessa F. of Knoxville, Tennessee departed this life on Monday, December 24, 2012 at her residence. She was a Health and Foster Care worker for many years.  She was a long time faithful member of Sentertown Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Cisarro and Jossie Foust Collum; husband, Elijah Kimbrough; step-son; Willie Fred Kimbrough; foster daughter, Anita Wilkinson. Left to cherish memories: sons, Eric Kimbrough and Victor Coffee; daughter, Burnadeen Tate; devoted cousin, Fred Foust of NC; numerous foster children. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 31, 2012 from 11 AM until 12 noon at Sentertown Missionary Baptist Church with funeral service to follow. Interment to follow at Eastview Memorial Gardens. Service to conclude with full dove release.

Robert Rodgers, Jr., age 88 passed away early Wednesday morning December 19, 2012. Born on October 12, 1924, he was a lifelong resident of Knoxville, TN and a proud member of Christ Temple Holiness Church until his health failed. Preceded in death by parents, Robert & Cloris Rodgers, Sr.; sisters, Ernestine Rodgers Smith and Thelma (June) Ballenger; brothers, A.W. Rodgers and Roy Rodgers; former wife Juanita (Jarnigan) Rodgers. Left to cherish his fond memories, devoted wife Ruby Rodgers; son, Robert “Rocky” (LaKishe’) Rodgers; step-son, Kelly Smith; step-daughters, Vanessa (Vincent) Brown, Tonya Middleton, Rubye (Larry) Stovall, Janice Jarnigan, Judy (Jarnigan) Hamilton, Treva Jarnigan, Tina (Gregory) Benward, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Pauline Rodgers of NJ, Linda Wagner, Gloria (Susie) Smith; brothers-in-law, James and Terry Smith; grandson/son, Kenny Glass and many others family and friends too numerous to name. Upton, Douglas – Knoxville, departed this life, December 15, 2012, at Holston Health Care and Rehab Center. Born in Madisonville, TN, he was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; retired from Levi Straus; a former employee of Knoxville College and the Knoxville Area Urban League. He was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Johnnie Upton; brother-in-law Harold Sudderth. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Sylvia; son, Darwin (Susan) Upton; daughter, Sydney Upton; sister, Marynell Sudderth; brother, William (Vernice) Upton; grandchildren, Mia (Joe) Sullivan; Aubrey Upton; sister-in-law, Delores Hayes, Christine Taylor; brother-in-law, Garrison (Vienna Martin). Special thanks to our many friends and the staff at Holston Health and Rehab Center for their caring love and support. The Fraternity service begins at 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at Greater Warner AME Zion Church  from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Reverend Leroy Franklin, officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at Park City Cemetery, Madisonville, TN on Thursday, December 20, 2012. The service will conclude with a full dove release.  It is in respect for Doug that the family wishes in lieu of flowers, that a monetary donation be given to Knoxville College to help with the struggles they encounter as the college is striving to rebuild itself as a place for other students like Doug to become productive citizens.

She was born to the union of Donald Graves and the late Mary Lunch Graves on September 4, 1951. She was a graduate of Austin-East High School Class of 1969. She attended Maryville and Knoxville College. She retired from the Knox County School System – Sam E. Hill Preschool.  Preceded in death by:  husband, Eric C. Gwinn; mother, Mary L. Graves; sister, Donna Blakney; brother, Carlos E. Graves, Sr.; niece, Sonya Sullivan; great-grandnephew, Vent E. Sullivan. Left to cherish memories:  father, Donald E. Graves; devoted sister and caregiver, Vicki (Michael) Burris, Tamela Griffin; brother, Jerry Graves; step-son, Eric C. Gwinn, Jr.; 2 brothers-in-law;  1 sister-in-law; 1 aunt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Charlie, Ervin and Mickey Moore, Anthony, Leonard and Michael North; daughters, Rosemary (Clarence) Mack, Terrell North, Minnie (Raymond) Isom; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born on May 21, 1981 to Deborah Morelan and Albert Montgomery. Preceded in death by great-grandparents, Helen William Cook, Vonzola Hall, Albert Montgomery Sr.; grandmothers, Joyce Morelan and Rosa Mae Montgomery; father, Albert Montgomery, Jr. “Red”; niece,  Kennidie D. Goodloe;  sister-in-law, De’Annah Austin; uncles, Larry and Thomas Cook and George Jackson. Survived by children, William Jr. and Khilijah Austin; devoted mother, Deborah Morelan; grandfather, Johnny Morelan, Sr.; stepfather, Farooq Relleford; brothers: ShaMarkus Morelan Mason, Shane and Kevin Cherry;  sisters, Sparkle Goins, Tanisha (Dania) Chinoda, Lakeese Davis, Kayla Cherry; 3 step sisters and brother; 8 uncles; 5 aunts; special friend, Daryl Smith; a host of other relatives and friends.
