Margaret Louise Smith Parks, of Knoxville, departed this life on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 2, 1930 to the late Grace A. and Herman B. Smith, Sr. She was a long-term member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. McGhee. She served the community as a social worker through the YMCA Kids Help and KCDC. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Marshall Parks and her sister Mary E. Bailey. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Hubert Smith, James (Roseanne) Smith, Darrell “Glen” (Von) Smith, Wanda Smith, David (Terry) Smith, Scott Smith, John “Allen” Smith and Marsha Parks; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 5 p.m., in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, 1425 McCalla Avenue.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Betty Hughley and William Love; sister: Robbie Hughley; other siblings: William Jr., Timothy, Zachary, Jeffery, Evelyn and Mary Helen; her aunt: Mary Weaver; her uncle: John Hughley; and cousins: Brenda Weaver and Amber Weaver. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son: Damion (Nicole) Billingsley, Sr.; stepson: Charles (Cricket) Birden III; grandchildren: Damion Jr., Destinee, Dion, Clark, Jamil, Simone and Addonis; companion for over 25 years: Charles Birden, Jr.; aunt: Dorothy Hughley; cousins: Michael Weaver, Maurice Hughley, Kevin Hughley, Debra (Raymond) Wade, LaChelle Weaver, Robert Weaver, Christopher Weaver and Matthew Weaver; siblings: Deborah (Gary) Polk, Carmen (Brett) Blue, Ricky Love, Sophia (Reno) Hall, Tracey (Kelvin) Jackson, Tobi (Rhonda) McClellan, Katina McClellan; and a host of other relatives, including several nieces, nephews, and the Hughley, Robert, Poole, Birden, Blackwell, Love, McDowell and Hall families. Sunday, February 12th, 2017Edward L. Mason, age 62, entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, February 12, 2017. He is preceded in death by his mother Angie Mason and his brothers Eric and Reginald Mason. Ed retired from Triumph Aerostructures in 2012 after 35 years of services. Ed was always full of life and joy. He leaves to cherish his memory his father: Ervin Mason; loving and devoted children: Roseé Mason Brown, Janeé Mason and James Edward Mason; grandchildren: Jaylin Brown, Janiya Mason, Jazlyn Brown and Jaydin “Puppy” Mason; siblings: Kathy and Angela Mason; sister-in-law: Edna Mason; uncle: Cornelius Mason, Jr.; aunt: Katherine Chavis; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with the funeral service to follow at 12 noon with Bishop Zack Flack officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland West Memorial. Monday, February 6th, 2017Marcia Jane Chandler, of the Wildwood Community, Maryville, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Marcia was a retired nurse at UT Medical Center and was a long time member of K-Town Sams, Ole Smoky Sams and Good Sams of Tennessee. She was an avid RV’er and enjoyed traveling the country with her husband. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Phoebe Cook; her brothers Thomas, David and Phillip; and her sister Ann. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Kyle Gordon Chandler; children: Vernon (Teressa), Terry, Ronald, Jeffrey (Alicia) and Cheryl (Stephen) Chandler-Floyd; brother: Richard “Dick” (Nancy) Cook; sister: Sylvia Bright; and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Lois Wright, her father Leonard Winton and three brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters: Barbara Jean Wright and Leola Wright; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, including devoted caretaker Shaniqua Johnson; two brothers: Leonard (Stickman) Winton, Jr. and James Wright; nieces, nephews and friends.
Franklin Dunson
Sunday, January 22nd, 2017Franklin Dunson, age 68, of Knoxville, transitioned from this life on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born August 7, 1948 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Hosea and Ruth Dunson, Sr. He was known by so many as an anointed musician, and he could play just about any instrument that you put in his hand.
Franklin was a member of Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church. He loved his church and his Pastor John B. Jordan and First Lady Diane Jordan and was very devoted to his church, which he attended over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two stepsons, Alvin Lockett and Marvin Lockett; a stepdaughter, Annette Caldwell; his brother, Hosea Dunson, Jr.; a nephew, McKinley “Lil Mack” Dunson; and countless other family members and friends that he held dear to his heart.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Jean Dunson, who came with a beautiful daughter, Lorraine (David) Watkins; his grandmother, Myra Smith, who raised his, nurtured him and brought him up in the way of the Lord); five brothers: Thomas (Myra) Dunson, John (Renee) Dunson, David (Mary) Dunson, McKinley (Mary) Dunson and Walt Dunson; two sisters: Betty Dunson and Tammy Kay Dunson; special uncle, William (Mable) Smith; several other uncles and aunts, countless nieces nephews, both great and great-great, and so many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Dunson will lie in repose on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 12 noon to 6 pm in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Peace & Goodwill Baptist Church, 1723 Washington Ave, with the Homegoing Celebration to follow at 5:00 pm, with Pastor John B. Jordan officiating. The final resting place will be on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 12 noon at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN. Services will conclude with a white dove release.

Annie Jean Delaney; son-in-law, William (Bill) Delaney; adopted daughter, Aida Davidson; grandchildren: Tasaha Delaney, Marcus Delaney, Erika Delaney and Christopher Delaney; her adopted granddaughter, Nicole (Michael) Tucker; great-grandchildren: Kyarra and Jamari Smith, Martel, Martez and Javon Delaney, Isaiah and Ilias Delaney and Ja’Kobe Delaney; nieces: Cora Spencer and Dorothy Smith-Davy, Sherrine John and Linda Rose Edmondson; nephew, Randy Spencer; cousins: George ( Olga) Welch, Lewis Welch, Charlie Welch and Ceola Allison; and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 28, 2017 pm in the William V. Powell, Jr., Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, 1425 McCalla Avenue, with the Homegoing Celebration to follow at 12:00 noon with Pastor Michel S. E. Caldwell officiating and Pastor A.D. Baxter, Eulogist. Immediately after the service, the final resting place will be at Berry Highland South Memorial Gardens, 9010 E. Simpson Rd. Knoxville, TN.
