Nakisha Andrea Flack-Scott was born on January 7, 1981 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Eugenia L. Ladd and William E. Scott. She left this Earth to be with her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George & Betty Flack; father, William E. Scott; and grandfather, B.Q. Scott. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted mother, Eugenia (Mike); daughter, Dashia; grandson, Chris Solomon, Jr.; sister, Vanessa Scott; brothers: William and Bobby Ladd; and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 12-1 PM, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow, in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with Bishop Zach Flack officiating.

Adrian Prince Howell, Jr., 3 month old, departed this life on Friday, November 17, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memories his father, Adrian P. Howell, Sr.; mother, Tierra Williamson; brother, Shavonta McGhee; sisters, Dominique Turman, Daja Mitchell and Kelisha Henry; grandmother, Antonia Howell; uncle, Andre Howell; aunts, Angel Coach, Shabrelle Howell, Taya Howell, Brandi Howell; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 2 pm to 2:30 pm in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with the Homegoing Celebration to follow, with Apostle Jerry Upton officiating.  The final resting place will be at Mount Olive Cemetery following the service.  A white dove release will conclude the services.

Keyawna Z. Bingham, age 35, of Knoxville, departed this life on November 11, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Shirley Hines. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Angela Smith; father, Ignatius Bingham; beloved children, Ka’meel and Isaac; siblings, Sedalia Bingham, Ignatius Jr., Elijah, Isaih, Andrea and Stephanie; grandmother, Pastor Hattie Bingham; step-father, William Smith; devoted friends, Karmeeka (Wesley) Bragg and Mamie Bingham; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 11 AM to 12 PM in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow with Pastor Hattie Bingham officiating.

 

Blanche Buffington

Blanche Buffington, aged 88, of Knoxville, TN went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2017 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.  She was born September 13, 1929 in Loudon, TN, the daughter of the late James and Cora Hardy of Loudon, TN. Blanche had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of New Beginnings Christian Community Fellowship where she enjoyed many outings with her senior church group.  She was an avid traveler and thoroughly enjoyed her many travels where she visited most of the 50 states. Blanche was predeceased by her husband James E. Buffington, her daughter Carol Y. Baker and son-in law, Thomas Baker, Sr., her three brothers Claude, Frank and Henry Hardy and three sisters, Susie Hampton, Willie Mae Beasley and Helen Bates.  Blanche is survived by her son Larry Buffington, Knoxville, and daughters Dolores Bewley, Waldorf, MD and Teresa Buffington Simpson, Charlotte, NC.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 12:30 – 1 pm at Freedom Fellowship Christian Church, 4027 Papermill Drive NW, Knoxville TN 37909 where Derick Wakefield is the Pastor, with a celebration of life service to follow at 1 pm, Dr. Valentino officiating.  The final resting place will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:30 AM at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier Hwy). Services will conclude with a white dove release.

Robert “Big Bob” Aymer, peacefully returned to the Lord, on October 19, 2017. He was born July 19, 1944 in Plymouth, Montserrat to the late Ann Aymer and Isaac Perkins. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved children: Marilyn Powell (PA), Cecil Neville, Donathan (Trisha) Christian (TN), Elizabeth (Delroy) James (NY), Mario (Stacy) Christian (TN), Matthew (Georgia) Christian (TN), Pheona (Roger) Bowser (TN), RosaMaria (Tyrone) Jackson (TN); 14 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 10:57 AM to 12:00 PM, with the funeral to follow at 12:00 PM, at College Hill SDA Church, 1837 Brandau Street, with Pastor Nathan Williams officiating. The final resting place will be at Mount Olive Cemetery following the service. A white dove release will conclude the services.

Mellow Mae Davis Every passed away October 18, 2017. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Audrey (Nathaniel) Mitchell of Newark, NJ, and Lenora Davis; dedicated nephew, Arthur Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, caregivers and neighbors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 11:00-11:30 AM at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 11:30 AM, with Rev. Jesse Williams officiating. The final resting place will be at New Gray Cemetery following the service. A white dove release will conclude the service. Margaret Jean Thomas Wade, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 13, 2017.  Margaret was the daughter of the late Dowell Thomas and Betty Bragg.  She was born February 4, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a member of Logan Temple AME Zion Church.  She was a graduate of Austin High Class of 1950. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alexander Wade.  She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Waneta (James) Long; son, Ronald (Sharon) Wade; granddaughters, Carmen Jones of Knoxville, Leslie (Ryan) Bond of Dallas, TX and Kimberly Long of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, John P. Jones, III; great-granddaughter, Jade Bond; sister-in-law, Thelma Jackson; nieces and nephews, cousins, and devoted cousin, Alma Moore; along with  a host of dear friends.  Special thanks to the Avalon Hospice Staff, Kathy Tate, Jackie Davis, and Deidre Tate for their loving care. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 5:00-5:30 PM, with the Funeral Service to follow, at Logan Temple AME Zion Church, 2744 Selma Avenue, with Pastor Kamau Kenyatta officiating. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Orangie Ann (Collins) Howell; daughters, Orangietta and Cordonnia; granddaughter, Yolanda; brothers, Ross, Charles Sr., and George Sr.; sisters, Alice, Helen and Edna; and sister-in-law, Arvine Hodge. He is survived by his daughters, Constance (Curtis) Davis and Jennifer (Willie) Ross; son, Edward Jr. (Denise); devoted grandson, Huey (Shenika); other grandsons, Curtis Jr., and Jonathan Davis; a host of grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; devoted nephews, Terry, George, and Willie; devoted niece, Kathy Faye; and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Unity Mortuary, 1425 McCalla Avenue, with the funeral service to follow, with Elder Malcom Hill officiating. Mary Etta Marshall, affectionately known as Etta to her family, was called home on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Etta was the eleventh child born to the late Mr. Enoch and Henrietta Fant Thompson of Anderson, South Carolina. She is preceded in death by husband, Mr. Claude Marshall of Anderson, South Carolina, eight sisters and six brothers; sisters, Beatrice Wildeman, Alberta Rice, Katherine Lee, Doris Warmack, Eden Thompson all of Anderson, SC, Lorene McLaughin of Nashville, TN and Eloise Thompson of Liverpool, OH, brothers, Roosevelt, Johnny, ET and George Thompson all of Anderson, South Carolina, LT Thompson of Detroit, Michigan and Wallace Thompson of New York, New York; son Ronnie Eugene Brodie of Knoxville, TN. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Payne Ave Missionary Baptist Church of Knoxville, TN. A loving person, Etta spent many years serving others as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Knoxville, TN and Anderson, South Carolina. She spent many of Saturdays serving the homeless at the Rescue Mission of Knoxville, TN. She is survived by sons, William Stanley Moore of Los Angeles, California, James Edward, Jeffrey (Angie) Lewis and Michael Roy Brodie, all of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Venelle (Vernon) Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, Bryan (Shauna) Samuel of Chattanooga, TN, Lauren, Jeff and Leslie Brodie of Knoxville, TN, and Kaylon Toy of Knoxville, TN; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister Ruby Riley of New York; and a host nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 AM in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, 1425 McCalla Avenue, with the Homegoing Celebration to follow at 11:00 AM, with Pastor R.S.
