James S. Skaggs

James Stanley Skaggs was born on June 28, 1963. He peacefully departed this life on January 13, 2018. James was truly a joy to be around. He possessed an infectious smile and personality that lit up any atmosphere he was in and around. One of his popular sayings was “You so sweet.” His presence will truly be missed, as he was a blessing to those he came into contact with. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee F. Skaggs. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother: Eula M. Skaggs; his siblings: Lee F. Skaggs, Jr., Linda (Jones) Mynatt and Michael A. Skaggs; nieces and nephews: Kristin S. (David) White, Vernon Keith (Katie) Mynatt, Jr., William E. Mynatt, Anthony (Lee Ann) Skaggs and Matthew Skaggs; aunts: Ann Sargent and Mattie B. Wade; one uncle: Eugene Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Howard & Darlene Pegues, Mrs. Carla Payne, Smoky Mountain Hospice and Compassionate Care for all of their love, support and services. The family will receive friends from 11 AM-12 PM on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow, with Pastor Jeremy Weaver officiating. The final resting place will be at Berry Highland Memorial Gardens, 5315 Kingston Pike, following the service. A white dove release will conclude the services.

Timothy D. Littlejohn

Timothy Dewayne Littlejohn, age 47 of Knoxville, departed this life suddenly on January 12, 2018. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Littlejohn; and brother, Vaughn “L.J.” Littlejohn. He leaves to cherish his memories his three sons, Rashannad Burton, Issac and Timothy Littlejohn; mother, Jacqueline Littlejohn; brother, William Littlejohn; sister, Connie Littlejohn; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and devoted friend, Timothy Tillery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-6:30 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Unity Mortuary, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 6:30 PM, with Rev. William Riddle officiating.

 

Frederick D. Jackson, Sr.

Sunday, January 7th, 2018

Frederick D. Jackson, Sr., age 90 of Knoxville, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, January 7, 2018. He was born November 19, 1927, in Knoxville, to Edgar and Geraldine Rhoan Jackson. Mr. Jackson, a faithful member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, was President of the Senior (JOY Club) Ministry and an active member of Sunday Church School and the Trustee Ministry. He also sang in the Male Chorus and participated in the Men’s Ministry and Tuesday night Bible study class until his health no longer allowed his active participation. Mr. Jackson, a dedicated and respected servant of God, was the Church Treasurer for thirty-one years. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mattie Odessa Jackson; second wife, Edith Elizabeth Byrd Jackson; and brothers: Dr. Tillman V. Jackson and Edgar T. Jackson. Among those left to cherish his memory are two sons: Ronald Lewis and Frederick (Terressa) Douglas, Jr.; three grandsons: Frederick III, Robert Thomas and Charles A., all of Knoxville; one sister: Doretha Mungen of Tallahassee, FL; one brother: Rev. Kenneth C. (Beulah) Jackson of Silver Spring, MD; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers. The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, 520 College Street, Knoxville, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3 PM, with Rev. Michel S. E. Caldwell officiating. The final resting place will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike. A white dove release will conclude the services.

Alfred Lamar Griffin II, age 37 of Knoxville departed this life Friday, December 29, 2017 at UT Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Emma & Cephas Brewer; grandparents, Richard & Katie Griffin and Willie Henry Satterwhite; uncle, Robert L. Hassel; aunts, Barbra Brown & Victoria Spradling; cousins, Courtney and Michael Gillette and Chaztus Whaley; and special friend, Tesha Bowen. He leaves to mourn his passing his parents: Alfred & Evon Griffin; grandmother: Ora Lee Brewer; brothers: Roderick & Cebra (Donna) Griffin, Merv Rogers, Shawn (Kanessa) Bailey, Terry Griffin; sisters: Chelita Edwards & Tashia Griffin; daughters: Keyisha Murphy, Lamyisha, Lemarina, Za’Rayah Griffin; granddaughters: Amirah Gillette, A’Nyla Hill; nephews: Cebra Jr., Dewayne, Darius, Roderick Jr., Jarvis, Kendrick Griffin, Travis Edwards, Jack Chesney III; nieces: Sciara Griffin, Tavia Edwards, Brodaria Winton, Daishanay Tucker, Terryauna Griffin; uncles, aunts and cousins too numerous to name; devoted girlfriend: Stephanie Means; and devoted friends: Chris, Keith, Eli, Alex, Jarius, Carrie and Amanda. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary, with the funeral service to follow. The final resting place will be on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at New Gray Cemetery. Services will conclude with a white dove release.

Robert Lee Brown, age 83, of Knoxville, departed this life on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Brown; his ex-wife, Getrude Brown; and two sons, Cedric Brown and Fredrick Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Stanley (Donita) Brown and Lorenza Brown; daughters: Dora (Lawrence) Newton, Colleen Brown, Sandra Brown, Sylvia Brown and Priscilla Brown; step-son, Danny Howell; several grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Tina Marie Galyon, age 29, departed this life on December 20, 2017 at her residence. She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Bianca, Zavier and Jaditcia; her parents, Donald and Susan Galyon; brother, Joshua Galyon; sisters, Tara and Rebecca Galyon; and a host of relatives and friends. The Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the William V. Powell, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Unity Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the mortuary toward the funeral expenses.

Deann J. Casselman, age 55, of Morristown, departed this life on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Systems. She is preceded in death by her father. She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Michael (Jozetta) and Bob Henry; her mother, Dorothy Copeland; eight grandchildren, six sisters, four brothers, and a host of relatives and friends. The remains of Ms. Casselman will return to Albion, NY for burial at Mount Albion Cemetery.

Prdra Arstell Hall, age 52, departed this life on Friday, December 8, 2017 with his sister and brother-in-law by his side. He is preceded in death by his mother, Melzella Hall; father, Carter Jarrett; brother, William “Turtle Rock” Hall; grandparents: Rev. Ernest and Willie Mae Hall; four aunts and four uncles. He leaves to cherish his memories two loving daughters, Imani Hall and Parys Adamson; sisters, Priscilla (Willie Sr.) Evans and Verlina Hall; brother, Roy Hall; two uncles, four aunts, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends too numerous to name. Special thanks to UT Hospice and Club XYZ and the Edge. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 12PM-1PM at Unity Mortuary, with the funeral to follow with Rev. Rose Clark officiating and Rev. Steve Simpson as eulogist.

Harold W. Kline, Sr.

Harold William Kline, Sr., joined his heavenly Father on December 8, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 3, 1944 to the late Bonnie Hardy Kline and Charlies Kline in Loudon, TN. Harold attended the University of Tennessee and Morristown College and was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from Lockheed Martin after 37 years of service. Harold was a prominent member of the East Knoxville Community and served as mentor and liaison among community members and authority figures. He owned and operated Wishing Well Jewelry Store on Magnolia Avenue. He met no strangers and was well-respected in the community and by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Geraldine Abrams Kline; devoted son, Will Kline; devoted stepdaughters, Sonya (Tony) Kyle, Connie (John) Gallimore and Crystal Abrams; brothers: Charles (Betty) Kline and  James (Kay) Kline; sister, Doris Moore; devoted niece, Renee Kline Thomas; and many more relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 11 AM to 12 PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1807 Dandridge Avenue, where Rev. Leroy Franklin is Pastor, with the funeral to follow with Pastor Lionel Moore officiating. The final resting place will be Loudon County Memorial Gardens following the service. A white dove release will conclude the services.
